Nick will be a good role player who can come off the bench at times to be disruptive on defense. We can stick him in when another team's 1 or 2 is having a good game. Put him on guys like Lillard, Westbrook, Parker, Curry to let him pester them for a while to get them out of their rhythm. He can hit the open 3. That's all we need from him. Not expecting him to come in and have a major role on the team, but he can have A role.
Not disagreeing with you, just pointing out that the major difference between Canaan & Johnson is defense, at least from what I've seen/heard. McHales seems to want his young guys to play solid D - that's how you crack the rotation (see Bud v Parsons 3 years ago). Also, there was a logjam at PG - Canaan didn't add anything over Lin & Brooks. If Lin is moved, then backup point will presumably be between Canaan & Johnson. In that scenario, I expect Johnson will see some nice PT. Just an opinion.
This may well happen. But a top college defender isn't necessarily even a good NBA defender right off the bat. It could take some time to adjust to playing against NBA opponents and earn steady playing time.
I honestly thought Jordan Clarkson or Patric Young should have been our pick here....Clarkson could be a major spark off the bench and Young could come in and immediately play a Reggie Evans type of role as the backup center.
He is the ONLY player will see from this draft any time soon if ever, Nick Johnson. I would have liked to seen Markle Brown taken with the pick. So I am 1 of the 33 that voted no on the pole. I hope one day to eat these words - but for now not a fan.
Man...he wasn't lying though lol. Dude better pray Harden doesn't see this tweet....Harden will punish him in training camp for it lol. You right...he plays NOOOOOOOOOO defense, but you better be Dennis Johnson good on defense to stop him for punishing you on OOOOOOOOOFENSE LOL Real Talk....that was funny!

The more I read about the kid, the more I LOVE this pick. His low draft position is more indicative of his situation than his actual ability. Tweener SG/PG in a draft filled with high quality PGs in a league filled with high quality PGs. Basically for most other teams he's redundant or bad fit. But his deficiencies are simply not an issue with us.
More Bob Sura 2.0 He has toughness about him. Will be nice to see Johnson and Beverley on court at the same time in some games.
WORLD CLASS athlete.....stud since his Findlay Prep days. really the most consistent player on the AZ squad. Takes and makes big shots, can create for himself, really athletic defender. If he was a few inches taller, dude would be a top half lottery lock.
