Hell, why hold onto him? It's not as if you can't find a player to replace his on-court production. Unless Les really is crying in his cabernet about losing the Asian money connections. And ticket sales.
Because you have to pay to dump him and it doesn't really make sense to do if you aren't using the cap space for something else.
Logic would dictate that we won't do the deal because we would have to give up an asset to rid ourselves of Lin. If there's nothing to be gained by getting rid of Lin, then why deplete your stash of trade pieces? Edit: as NotChandlerParsons says.
"Top free agent targets"? So does this mean they don't trade Lin if Melo and LeBron say no, but a 2nd tier free agent wants to come here like Lowry for example?
Depending on what Lowry wanted, we are close to that figure now. I think it's just a message that Lin is going to cost us to move him so if we don't have reason to, then we are riding out this last season with him (or at least until the trade deadline).
A S&T involving Lin and Lowry seems very reasonable. We would have to include a first rounder and probably more but it would allow us to stay over the cap and keep our exceptions.
Wake up dude. No good PG will come to HOU. No PG will flourish without the ball. LBJ might be the only person who can pry the ball from Har_en, and it might actually work for HOU.
A lot of people have to shun us for Lin to stay. The commentary from Morey to Alexander after brilliant point guard tried to dribble past Mo Williams like a hero says it all. People that make the decisions aren't happy with Lin's playoff performances. He needs a team he can carry to future early 1st round exits. A team that would be happy just to finally play in the playoffs.
If HOU gets Melo, I'll have my popcorn ready to watch how two volume shooters with no D/heart and a diva center "co-exist" under McHale.
If he holds on to him, then the only thing i can think of is Lin's contract being absolute gold at the trade deadline. An 15 mil expiring contract where only a lil over 4 mil will have to be paid to Lin. The only reason I see for keeping that contract
