How is this lineup an improvement from last season's?? The defense even got worse, and the bench is now a grease fire. Rockets need to get Lebron if they are going to gut their bench. Otherwise trading Asik makes no sense because it weakens Rockets defensively and trading Lin weakens our bench scoring. Bringing in Lebron (not so much Melo or even Love) will improve the starting 5 enough that the bench depth will not be so crucial since Rockets' scoring will actually improve with some combination of Lebron, Howard or Harden on the floor at ALL times. Rockets can get by with some younger cheaper specialists/role players/glue guys like Canaan, Daniels and Covington. Center depth will still be a concern however as Asik will be very difficult to replace. But Rockets still need to retain at least its 2nd round pick and nab a perimeter defender. This should also be their focal point to undrafted FA signings and instead of trying to win another D league title.
If Rockets get Lebron then the player that is least necessary becomes Parsons because they play the same spot. If the Rockets get Melo then the player that is least necessary becomes Parsons because both are sieves on the defensive perimeter. 5-Howard 4-Josh Smith (S&T Parsons) 3-Lebron 2-Harden 1-Beverley This lineup is improved athletically, offensively AND monumentally improved on D from last season - in every way: the post, perimenter, blocks, steals & rebounding. Josh Smith would be the 4th option offensively (minimizing his TOs & decision making issues) and be much more effective defending the elite PFs in the West: Griffin, LMA, Duncan, Nowitzki, etc.
The defense and bench gets better. This idea was if the Rockets struck out on the big name free agents.
Stolen from clutch citizen and meh. Trade Lin, Motiejunas for multiple future second rd picks. Cut Casspi, Covington and Powell, and have Garcia opt out. Draft our 25th pick, trade out 2nd for cash and a future second. Sign Lebron James to a 4 years 80 million contract. S&T Parsons with bird rights for 4 years 40 million, trade Parsons, Jones, Canaan, Daniels, 25th pick, NO's 2015 pick, Hou 2015 and 2017 first and multiple future 2nd rd picks for Love. Beverley Harden Lebron Love Howard Highly unlikely, but holy **** it's actually possible.
I just want to make it clear, that when this goes down, that although I might now have had the exact HOW correct, I was the first one to say that this is what COULD and can possibly happen. Posted this on 06-24-2014, 06:21 in the Houston plans to pursue Kevin Love thread.
Jones, NO's 1st, Lin, hou 1st, dmo For love Howard Love Parsons Harden Beverly 6 man = someone Lebron is going back to Cleveland. Keep it simple not unrealistic.
Rockets Receive Kevin Love & Kevin Martin Bucks Receive Jeremy Lin Timberwolves Receive Ersan Ilyasova Terrence Jones Donatas Motiejunas Isaiah Canaan 2014 1st Round pick from Rockets (#25) 2014 2nd Round pick from Rockets (#42-via Knicks) 2015 1st Round Pick from Rockets (via Pelicans-Omer Asik Trade) 2016 1st Round pick from Rockets
DMo is not that great of a backup C. His cash for a FA or perceived trade value is worth more IMO. We can find another backup C.
I'd do that. But I don't think Minnesota wants 2 low first round picks, 1 pick in the teens, a 2nd round pick, and some average-to-below average players in exchange for Love.
Minny also gets a couple first round picks and cash. We do this simultaneously with signing Lebron. We then sign Paul Pierce on a vet minimum contract as a backup, as well as Pau Gasol, Ray Allen, Chauncey Billups and Elton Brand. PG: Beverley, Billups SG: Harden, Allen SF: Lebron, Pierce PF: Love, Gasol C: Howard, Brand, Gasol
Could there be a way to get Lebron and Lowry??? Raptor In: Lin, Casspi, Garcia, Tjones, 2014 Roc first rounder , 2015 NO First rounder Raptor Out: Lowry, P.Patt Mia In: Harden, P.Patt, Donuts Mia Out: LeBron Roc In : Lebron, Lowry Roc Out: Lin, Harden, Donuts, Garcia, Casspi, T jones 2014 1st rounder and NO 2015 1st rounder Line could be Lowry / Beverley Daniels / Parsons / Hamilton Lebron / Howard / What u guys think?
boston gets: Jeremy Lin Pels Lotto Pick Houston future first (or 2014) D-Mo Rockets Receive: Rajon Rondo Joel Anthony We get Rondo on the cheap and servicable backup big man for Dwight but this is only if they strike out on any of the free agents
Now that Asik's gone... I'd be satisfied with picking up Lowry and Frye, drafting a back-up center, and trading Lin for pick(s). Whatever else happens, I hope we keep Troy Daniels.
