If Lin is traded and we cut those guys, we can give close to Max to another player. It won't be a max contract (I don't think, I haven't done the math) but I think it could be around $18-$19 million range. We may be in Luxury Tax territory but if Les wants to win now, he should pay it.

If I recall correctly, we haven't paid a Luxury tax but once in the past 20 years or so. Les wants to win and now is the time to do it. Regardless of tax repercussions.

Yes, they traded their 2014 pick to Philly, therefore they cannot trade their 2015 pick until this draft passes.

Was that on Fox 1? Does anyone know what channel that is on Comcast Houston?

    THAT is tremendous !

I really don't think Asik and Davis will stay healthy for an entire year....not that I wish injuries on anybody...

On what f-ing planet does Courtney Lee and Brandon Bass on last year's Rockets get out of the West last year or next? How much impact did Lee have on the Grizzlies?

Holy crap! Only top-3 protected? Are the Pelicans REALLY that sure about their health going forward?

Geez, now I REALLY don't want to trade this pick. Hopefully our own future 1st and and this year's pick will do. By mid-season that pick could be worth A LOT.

People suggesting that we are going to S & T Harden to New York or Miami are incredibly foolish or at least are really underestimating Morey. Lebron and Melo are free agents. We are not giving up a young superstar for the right to simply sign and trade one of them. If Lin and Asik are gone, we could simply trade Harden to another team for a huge haul of future draft picks to free up the space to sign both. The line of teams willing to take Harden off our hands would be quite long. No reason to give him away for nothing.

I think we are at 52 million right now with only

    Howard
    Harden
    Lin
    Jones
    Motiejunas
    Beverley
    Canaan
    Daniels
    25th pick cap hold
    Parsons cap hold

so if 63 million is the new cap we should have 11 million, so enough offer Lowry a 10 million a year deal.

    New Orleans is stupid.

People called morey crazy for trying to get a first for Asik. Now we get one that's only essentially top 3 protected

    Whoa.

I don't like this dude's philosophy on playstyle and coaching, but damn is he a magician with manipulating assets.

the pelicans don't have 8.3M of cap room. a few wrinkles are possible. the rockets might have to absorb rivers (2.44M) and ajinca's (981k) contracts if there is no 3rd party. if the cap doesn't go up high enough the pelicans next lowest contract is anderson (8.49M)

This is actually a great point. Likely any team in the league would give up completely unprotected picks for at least 2 years for Harden.
