I like the move for the Mavs. Instead of settling for mediocrity, they now have a legit chance of getting Melo. That's what this move was all about. If they don't get him, no harm done.

    If healthy, Chandler >>> Dalembert.

I don't see it. The Mavs had zero chance to get Carmelo or Lebron before chandler. They didn't have any sort of compelling roster.

    Now it's chandler, dirk, melo/Lebron, monta, Harris/??

    Much more attractive roster IMO.

Bron can't keep running forever. How much does Dirk have left? That being said, because Cuban's a popular owner and not laughed at by players like dmorey, I can see Dallas being a viable destination for Melo or lebron. Htown had NO chance from the beginning, even with harden and Howard (neither are guys other stars want to play alongside))

So Carmelo leaves the Knicks where he was already playing with Chandler to go to the Mavs because they picked up Chandler? Certainly the Mavs had a better supporting cast than the Knicks last year, but I just don't see Chandler really boosting their recruiting that much. It's not like last year was the first time he has missed 20 or more games due to injury. Expecting him to stay healthy when he has missed 63 games in the last 3 years is far from a given.

Dirk is on his last leg with maybe 2 years, and chandler is past his prime and been injured past couple of seasons. monta played well last year but he takes a lot of shots. I don't think Melo fits with Dallas. And LBJ is going for multiple championships, Dallas doesn't have the talent with him to do multiple and he would be carrying the team heavily on his back once again.

dallas might get swaggy p tho? lol

SnT - asik/Lin/2nd to NYK for Melo/dalembert maybe throw in dmo.

Gets us melo and solves our backup 5 need when losing asik.

id even be willing to do asik/lin/dmo/#25/future2nd for melo/dalembert/shumpert.

There might be a real temptation now for Melo. Agree with you on injury concerns but the health of Derrick Rose looms as an even bigger concern for how good the Bulls will be. I'm not saying this means the Mavs will get Melo or this trade puts them ahead of the Bulls.

    Devin Harris
    Monta Ellis
    Melo
    Dirk
    Tyson Chandler
Shawn Marion, Vince Carter off the bench
    Rick Carlisle as coach.

That team is within striking distance of a championship, which is a perfect description of the Mavs in 2011.

If Chandler is going back to Dallas, does that mean Knicks find a way for Calderon to go back to Toronto?

I have little doubt the Knicks will flip Calderon somewhere if Melo leaves.

You can go from Orlando or OKC to Houston.... not NY or Miami

Dallas has the Cuban factor = passionate and he'll spend whatever it takes

Of course you and I prefer Houston since we know better, but for multimillionaires who like bright lights, Houston doesn't have a strong draw, especially as a sports town.

Give me lowry and love and I'll be ecstatic

Smartest move Knicks have made in years.

They're accumulating assets, they want a 1st round draft pick.

Calderon is much easier to trade than Felton.

If T-Wolves trade Love and are left with Rubio/Klay/Lee/Brewer/Pek, a team that is good, not great but wants to compete and needs a competent point guard, why wouldn't they do a deal of Calderon for say Budinger and Dieng?

People forget that Dallas was actually the team that gave San Antonio the most trouble in the playoffs this year. They are closer to the top than you think. If they get one of the big name FAs they are right there to contend.

Definitely true. There's no way a superstar would ever leave the bright lights of a city like Los Angeles for Houston.

Taking things away from things like playoff game results is way too risky. It's like suggesting that the 2009-10 Rockets could have been a contender since the 2009 Rockets were the only team to push the championship Lakers to 7 games. I think with hindsight it's pretty clear that doesn't happen even if Yao had remained healthy.

Yes but getting Felton to drive? You don't need all-stars at all positions, but I'm not worried unless they improve on the pg position.

Melo definitely fits with the Mavs. In fact anyone and everyone fits with the dirkster except another stretch 4. I would love to see a pnr with dirk/melo. Or a melo/Ellis pnr with dirk in the corner or chandler as a lob recipient.

Your lack of a head coach has affected your judgement.

Dude, if Chandler can stand up and look in the mirror each morning he's light years better than Dalembert. The word is out that Knicks are already looking to move Dalembert. The guy is worse than terrible. Calling Felton a turd is an insult to all other turds. I'm getting huge chuckles at all of the MAFFLs on dallasbasketball.com who are banking on Carlisle's "magic" to transform chicken s**t into good NBA players.
