Don't move the goalpoasts. You want to look at him vs good teams or good defenses? Top 10 defenses in the NBA last year by opponents field goal %: 1. Indiana: Played well, but not great against (20 ppg on 42% shooting) 2. Chicago: Shot well against, but didn't score much 3. OKC: Struggled 4. Golden State: Already listed, he torched them 5. Clippers: Struggled 6. Charlotte: torched them (51% shooting) 7. Houston: He sucked against these clowns 8. San Antonio: Already listed, torched them. 9. Memphis: Struggled 10: Toronto: Mediocre 11: Portland: Torched them in the regular season.
Anyway, to answer the question, I would for sure if we were getting a definite upgrade or were making it viable to get an upgrade. Example: If a prerequisite to getting Lebron was dumping Harden then yes, I'd move him. I think he is a very good player but I do not think he is an elite player. His defense is terrible, largely due to effort. His offense is prone to disappear because of his own decision to try for a foul call instead of a finish. I don't want to get rid of him, but I wouldn't mind moving him if it meant getting better pieces. Edit; I also worry about his off the court lifestyle. He drinks a ton.
I thought this was hyperbole. You're actually serious? A player that has never played a single minute of NBA basketball is going to automatically be elite and better than Harden? Greg Oden, Adam Morrison and Ed O'Bannon agree, right? Count me in on that tip jar bet if you guys ever agree on a valid metric to measure this.
I would trade harden for melo just swap them . Knicks get a young star , we get melo so lebron can have a tough choice to choose a team if he really serious about playing with melp but yeah idk about the salaries match thingies .
I don't want to be that team. I don't want to be the Yankees, I want a team that fights. Either Carmelo or LeBron not both and I wouldn't be so quick to trade a guy that brought respect back to this city for someone that's always looking for a way out. He did it in Denver and literally every season in New York there were new trade rumors. I don't want a guy that selfish
I don't get how wanting to trade a player makes someone a fairweather fan. If you're a 20-30 year Rockets fan and you want to trade James Harden due to his less-than-stellar attitude, way to stick to your guns. An opinion isn't good/bad just because it's popular.
If you want to trade James Harden for someone who is older, less talented, less team friendly, and has more attitude problems....because you think Harden has a "less-than-stellar attitude" it makes literally no sense whatsoever, but it doesn't make you a fair-weather fan, it's just an irrational desire.
So it's not possible that a player who isn't in the NBA yet cannot be better than a player who is? MJ, Lebron, Dream were already better than 95% of the players in the NBA at the time before they were even drafted. My high opinion of Parker is that I can't find any offensive weakness in his game, thereby inferring he has every offensive move, has prototypical size/strength, great first step, good athlete, and as a bonus, seems like a good kid who has a strong desire to be better Harden, while more experienced and accomplished, still has significant flaws in his game that I don't think he wants to correct or can correct
No weaknesses in his game whatsoever, unless he runs into a defense like Mercer's, fortunately there aren't any defenses that good in the NBA so he'll be fine.
That's just untrue. Dream better than 95% of the NBA BEFORE he ever played a game? Dude. And Parker has been elite. Against college level competition. His offense has been great. Against college level competition. I was an all state caliber talent in junior high athletics. So that means I should have been better than most high school athletes automatically, yes?
Dude-- you should reread the his comment. He did not say that he was (or was not) in favor of trading Harden based on attitude, but giving kudos to those who are "sticking by their guns" . Seriously, lighten up. There's no need to be a dick.....you come off like a mental midget-- without any reading comprehension ability, mind you. Thus making your brain dead comment very ironic
Obviously we don't know exactly how parker will do in the NBA, that I can't control, but comparing yourself to the potential #1 draft pick is alittle far fetched no? He plays at Duke/ACC against the top competition he is allowed to play against. Just do a fundamental analysis of his game and tell me what you think.
No it is not possible for a player that has never played in the NBA to be better than a player that is. I don't care how much of an amazing high school or college player they might have been. Derrick Coleman says hello. Coleman was one of the greatest NCAA players not only in Syracuse but NCAA history. When New Jersey picked him number one overall in 1990 most experts believed he would be a hall of famer. Many analyst's opinion was that Coleman had the talent to be the greatest PF ever (before he was even drafted). While Derrick had a decent career he never lived up to his college hype. And by the way many scouts did not see any holes in Derrick Coleman's offensive game either. There is a Derrick Coleman that is drafted every year. So don't sit here and act like Parker is a lock to be the next great thing when we have yet to see him play professionally. As far as the Harden vs Parker debate both also play two different positions. While many may not think positions mean that much they actually do. CP3 does not need to average 25 points a game to be considered a great but Kobe Bryant does.
James Harden will have a higher fg% and ts% than Parker next season. If Parker wins either one of those categories, you win. Deal?
