Lebran James. Morey isn't trading harden unless it means we are getting James. I would imagine James wouldn't agree to that trade unless it meant Melow was in the picture.

I think we should cross that bridge when we get to it. At the moment, we're a long shot to pick up Melo and a super long shot to pick up Lebron. That's hypothetical enough as it is without layering on what conditions would warrant giving up Harden. Let's wait until Lebron is really thinking of leaving Miami, actually considering Houston a possibility, and asking for a way to play with Melo.

Mostly, this fascination with pairing Melo and Lebron is a way for sports rags to get pageviews.

(That said, it would create an interesting dynamic where we have the cap room to sign one and the trade chip to trade for the other. If Melo and Lebron were intent on Houston, it'd create a prisoner's dilemma for New York and Miami -- which one will concede to the S&T and get Harden and which one is left with nothing (or Lin/Asik)? But we're nowhere near there right now.)

Would I trade Harden for Melo? Hell no!

Would I trade Harden for Melo if it meant we will get Lebron too? Hell yes!

Should we be getting our hopes up? Probably not

Should we be mentioned in the conversation? Probably

Who would allow for a better supporting cast? Harden

Who would Lebron prefer to play with? Melo

Would Lebron mind playing with Harden? Nope

Would Lebron get more rest on offense playing with Harden? Most likely

Would Lebron get more rest on defense playing with Melo? Most likely

Will Lebron play less minutes if he teams with one over the other? Unlikely

Would Les prefer Lebron/Melo over Lebron/Harden? Absolutley not

Will Morey do everything in his power, including trade Harden, to get Lebron? Absolutely

Would the organization prefer a bad rep for trading a superstar, or a better shot at a championship? Championship

Will Lebron come to Houston? TBD

Who gets the edge? N/A....just give me Lebron

Except that most rank Harden above Melo right now.

Not the same for Francis vs. Tmac back then.

The Rockets could also change their name to the Unicorns, that doesn't mean it's a good bet.

It would probably mean a better logo and better uniforms though.

    That tweet is perfect.

It's a RealGM tweet sourcing Chris Broussard.

That's a credibility extinction level event.

And Harden is younger, with his best days ahead of him.

Howard, on the other hand... that's the only reason I could see Morey doing something so insane, to catch Howard's window.

I think this sums it up pretty nicely. Although I am still not 100% sold Lebron prefers Melo over Harden. Seems like something that was said through the media and everyone has ran with it as if there is video of Lebron saying it himself. I understand all the reasons outside of actual basketball why he would prefer Melo, but Lebron seems like a smart guy and I'm sure he can recognize Harden just might be the better option.

That would be a fireable offense for Morey.

Not if it get LeBron James to sign in Houston.

LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Chandler Parsons, Patrick Beverly and the MLE will get you pretty far.

i Heard it live when he said it. He said if Houston wanted Melo and Lebron, they could sign Lebron and trade harden for Melo in a sign-n-trade. Not happening. Not trading Harden for Melo. He was just throwing hypothetical situations out there.

He can get Lebron to sign here anyway, I highly doubt that making the team worse makes it more likely to sign Lebron.

Broussard is an idiot and all, but he didn't really do or say anything wrong here. Clutch made the same point in his LeBron article. IF LeBron wants Melo over Harden, we'd have to do it. I'd be shocked if this were the case, but it doesn't make it any less possible.

no Knicks, want as much cap space for 2015, they're not dropping 12-14 mill on Parsons.
