You do what you have to do to get Lebron. That said our FO would be considered the most evil FO ever if we traded away the player that made us a hot destination.
Hmm. If we could trade Parsons + Jones for like Affalo + Vucevic, that team would definitely be interesting. Bev Affalo/Daniels James/ Anthony Howard/ Vucevic
This is very true but people need to remember that Lebron chose to go to Miami to play with FRIENDS. If he wante to go play on a team with the best talent he would have went to The Lakers or Celtics in 2011. Melo seems to be closer to Lebron than Harden.
If you really want Lebron for sure, this might be the way to do it. I don't think Morey has the balls to do this trade though.
All good points, but there's a real possibility we could win a couple championships with Melo/Bron/Howard during that time span. I'll sign up for that any day of the week and twice on Sundays
I don't see Bev (though I like him) as a starting PG, but if you can get Howard, LeBron, and Carmelo on the same team, you do it. I don't "feel" good about it, but I could get used to it.
and this is how Riley outsmarted everyone. While we were concentrating on Bosh, Riley was thinking outside the box.
Back in her heyday---I'd say, round about "Taxi Driver"---Cybill Shepherd got a dude to engineer/record an album of her singing, oh, probably standards or torch songs. She was probably dating the dude to get her to record her. Apparently this guy played the recorded songs (not yet released as an album) for Frank Sinatra's approval. Ole Blue Eyes listened to what they'd come up with and responded, "Some guys will do anything to bang a broad." Don't know why I thought of this when I read this thread about Broussard talking up LeBron and Melo in Houston with Dwight. Maybe I'm imagining in a Frank Sinatra voice, "Some guys will do anything to get your attention."
In addition to Harden's young age, his "max" contract is very minimal compared to the super max contracts that Melo would receive. Melo will still be effective as he ages but he is getting older and the 22 mil contract he demands will be several million more than Harden makes. Etiher way will go over the cap but having HArden's lower salary should allow us to splurge on the MLE or other contracts if possible in order to avoid the luxury repeater tax down the road. I guess if taking on Melo is the only way we can get Lebron then it is something that must be entertained. As much as I want Harden to redeem himself and win a championship for building Houston into a contender, if he nets us Lebron all that will be forgotten and I won't feel sorry for him for too long.
When is the last time a superstar got traded that didn't want to be traded? Exactly. This is just ESPN being ESPN.
Even though I hate this trade scenario, this isn't necessarily true. It actually happens a lot. If the third party team gets back enough youth or picks, they probably wouldn't care because would want to dominate in the future, kinda like the Thunder.
Unlikely to happen but if it happens, Rockets still need another legit ball handler on the perimeter. Can't have LeBron playing defacto PG 80% of the time like he does in Miami.
Harden is clearly valuable. But he is not preferable to a James/Melo duo, especially if James would only sign if Melo were also on the roster. I'd take 3 years of Melo/James/Howard any day. Two years ago we were groaning over missing out on Gasol/Bosh etc... I think no matter what happens, it's a good time to be a Rockets fan.
LOL BRASSSARD. We are NOT going to trade Harden. If LBJ or any other superstar wants to come here it would be because we have Harden and Dwight. Nobody in their right mind would trade a 24-year old superstar that is just entering his prime and already considered the best SG in the league.
Morey is stupid if he even thinks about trading harden for carmelo. We only need LBJ. God don't **** this team up Morey
Brusard is just trying to get harden Pissed at the rockets Brusard has always hated the rockets and he is trying to cause a problem for the rockets
