^^^ Now that I look at it, I am not 100% sure. He swung his leg to kick and got slightly clipped in the forward motion, but he made the most of it by diving as well.

Could have gone either way. I can see both sides. I have seen refs not award a penalty for such. Rather harsh for an extra time decider.

    Tough luck for Ivory.

Like Zboy wrote, I think he meant in terms of how they play.

You can call it either way because the defender was about to put forward his leg but he hesitated.

Samaras went in for a strong shot. Felt the he was touched by someone and fell.

    Awkward.

There is no way a referee can see that. Maybe if he had slow motion glasses.

It's like getting hit in the arm while taking a jump shot. A slight clip can mess up the whole shot. If I was playing for my country in the World Cup, I'd probably sell it too. He definitely was fouled so I have no problem with that. It wasn't a flop. You want the ref to be able to see it. I didn't see this match, but seeing the replay they got the call right IMO.

Clearly a penalty. There's been a lot of talk about the officiating so far, and rightfully so, but that was a foul.

the only thing that bothers me is that the U.S of A can't go into south america or europe, treat a couple of the players to the american life of cheesecake factory and strippers and have him naturalized as a citizen. frustrating. If we can't grow them, we should be able to borrow one or two.

Sorry for me personally it was not 100 percent. Not after slow motion.

A top ref would speak to his assistants because this one goal is a game changer for both teams.

An NBA ref is not a FIFA ref.
They do not review a situation the NBA way. There is no obvious superstar calls. There is a lot of diving and flopping.

There are hundreds of more obvious fouls on strikers.

You could call it either way. No problem with the foul but when Ivory Coast had better games against Japan and Colombia it is tough luck you have to ask yourself:
Does Greece deserve this one foul? Greece is not much better than Japan or the Ivory Coast.

Greece looked like they were on holiday the first two games.

This 3rd game they were much improved but it was a close one.
They might have some advantage because their first goal was initiated by a mistake of the opponent

That being said, Ivory Coast's defender would have been wiser to let this one shot pass.

    Goal or no goal.

I'm aware that the Hellas national garbage men union won the Euro 2004 and are reviled as the worst champions ever due to their strategy of making every game a 0-0 draw.

Boring mediocre team playing a boring style that is the reason why Americanos prefer pro wrestling to pro soccerball

What is your definition of worldwide sport? Is there any sport a world sport by your definition?

When I went to Kirgistan in 2004 and mentioned I was dutch everybody kept asking me about Van Basten, Gullit, Davids, Bergkamp. So even though most people didn't play soccer there, they did watch it.

Soccer is popular in all the areas you have mentioned (except for the USA). But you are right it isn't played on antarctica, so it is not a world wide sport:rolleyes:

If you believe that one of the most unbelievable, epic stories(Euro 2004) won by garbage men then you didn't watch a lot of european football. I don't argue about the boring football and the mediocre players but please refrain from insulting Greek football history.

Hope this moronic scummer, borderline r****d Suarez is banned for at least 20 games from all forms of football including club football.

He is a disgrace to the greatest ever sport, a disgrace to his country and above all a disgrace to Liverpool and the EPL. Liverpool as a club is also slowly losing what it stands for by repeatedly standing up for and defending this clown instead of shipping him off on the next train to Spain where his acts will be more tolerable and not far off what happens in La Liga.

I think 2 years is acceptable. He clearly cannot control his blood lust.

I think he should get a lifetime World Cup ban honestly... The World Cup is meant to bring the nations of the world together in a peaceful way, and any attacks should be unacceptable imo.
