Name a sport more popular than soccer worldwide. Thought so.

you missed my point. I'd agree that soccer is the most popular sport, just not a true worldwide sport.

So by your criteria there is no true world wide team sport?

ESPN reporting that. FIFA has charged Suarez and he could be banned 24 months. No link yet. Saw it on the app

Funniest thing about it is the flop afterwards...

Speaking of flops, how can anyone like Suarez? Alleged racist comments, every time he goes down you'd swear he just tore a ACL, and apparently he has a taste for human flesh. He seems like such a douchey player.

They compete to represent their region. The other countries may have better players on the field and will beat those two countries if those two countries don't field good players.
That's because it is not taught as much in lower level schools, the younger generations see other sports' athletes get paid a lot more, and the local league isn't as competitive as in other parts of the world.
Just because it's a leader in those continents it makes it a WORLD WIDE sport. No one said it's what they're best at.

I asked you to tell me HOW they are trash, and you can't but answer what "everybody knows". I need you to tell me why or how you've arrived at them being trash. Forget that "it is known." So... if you don't watch today's game versus Ivory Coast, you'll just dismiss them?
So are you saying they shouldn't play their game versus Costa Rica at all because "it is known that they're trash"? If you can't explain WHY, just say so.
So... Mexico beating Panama at home and USA beating Panama was because someone flipped a coin somewhere...? A butterfly flapped its wings and chaos happened? What? I don't get where LUCK comes in at a competition between skilled athletes.

LUCK is if two random teams can get picked out of a hat, and both played to win. Mexico got their points. USA beat the team they should have beat. That's not luck. Your interpretation is flawed. LUCK is random, like spinning a wheel that's unbiased in its end.

Well, then what is the point of that criteria?
Soccer is the closest thing to a worldwide sport.

China is not good because folks are watching but less professional players than in small Switzerland or Scotland for example.

If you go down soccer history, you will realize China was the first or second country that kicked the ball in ancient times.

It is a dream to even qualify for the World Cup.

Soccer is even more popular than Basketball, but just not an interactive one just yet.

They need a crazy, last second comeback by the US to get in.

A game the US didn't even need to win.

That was random, and that was luck.

You sound like the people who say "p***" isn't a homophobic word.

Wrong. In China it is the first big sport among fans at least.

As some say it China must suck at soccer but it is really that kids turn away at the age of 11 to pursue learning something else, going to university.

While they get higher education they do not play much anymore.

It is getting better though because they are starting to pour millions into soccer sports.

The USA was better than PANAMA and deserved to win. No luck in that.
So why do you think the game is still played?
Again, you misinterpret the meaning of the word in the context of competition between athletes.
It's not, p*to. It's Mexican folklore, just like crying about luck is. Did you get your feelings hurt then?

This guy has been playing brilliantly. He has singlehandedly lifted the Uruguayan team to become a world power. He is poised to become the golden boy of this World Cup. But then he did something this stupid when the whole world is watching. Are you kidding me? How much dumber can one get?

LoL, Greece is a trash team? Do you know they are the champion of Euro 2004?

Looks like you are the one who don't follow soccerball too much.

Just because a team deserves to win doesn't mean there wasn't luck.

Mexico needed the US to win for them. They couldn't control their own destiny.

Why would my feelings get hurt? It's not an offensive term according to you.

Nobody is really trash when qualified for the World Cup.

But when compared to other teams in the World Cup.

Greece group performance was 23 or 24 out of 32 so far above the bottom.

Trash? No but but poor performances in the first two games.
