My best guess is that if this gets done we do a 3 way deal or a 4 way deal with the Pelicans and/or the 76ers.

Maybe Thaddeus Young appeals to the Wolves? Maybe Eric Gordon appeals to the Wolves? Maybe Ryan Anderson appeals to the Wolves?

I think we could find a way to keep Parsons if we can get one of those three players routed to Minny.

Asik, Jones, Lin, DMo, Llull (Rubio's buddy, don't underestimate Llull's value), Papanikolaou, Canaan (sadly), our own 1st rounder this year and any future first rounders are very attractive pieces.

    Exactly...

What about if you make it...

    Parsons/Jones/DMo/#1 x 3 for Love/Martin/garbage

The Wolves clear cap space, get two good young players and 3 first rounders...

    Is that enough?

Would the Rockets REALLY give up that many future assets? (assuming they move future picks for someone to take Lin)

I'm saying he won't do it. He'll keep Parsons and go after a free agent. If Love wants to come here then it's basically all over. Minny will have to take the deal we put on the table. And the best deal for them is a deal that leaves them in a position to compete for the playoffs and to add Marc next summer and really compete for a ring with Rubio re-signed long-term.

Cap space this summer is a huge key for Minny. And we can give it to them.

Usually true, unless a team is willing to take him without an extension. Would the Rockets gamble like that? A threesome of Harden/Love/Howard would be a pretty good bet to win.

Why would a west coasy guy like Love prefer Houston to GS?

It is relevant my friend. Evaluate the other teams and the trades. The other teams cannot or will not give Minny $10+ million of cap space.

I'm not sure we can either. I've tried playing around on the trade machine and can't get enough salary on the Rocket's side.

It would have to be a 3 team deal, and probably a very complicated one.

I wonder how much Minnesota values Llull? I don't know how effectively he can play SG in the NBA, only being 6'3", but pairing him up with Rubio, if only to keep Rubio partially happy, has to be a little enticing, no?

Not enough to keep Parsons out of the "must haves", I expect.

How is 7 million a year for a 20 PPG scorer, who shoots 40% from the arc, a terrible contract?

Yup, thinking the same thing. Martin would actually look nice on this roster as a backup 2/3. Sure, his defence would hurt, but he can be that scoring plug of the bench that this team badly needs.

But I would seriously wonder about salary cap issues here. With us taking back 10 million more than we send out, and then matching a 8-10 million contract from Parsons, we would be 18-20 million dollars over the cap, deep in the luxury tax territory. I don't say Leslie wouldn't pay luxury tax, but the situation would only worsen the next 3 years with no real chance to sign a valuable FA.

Because he doesn't bring anything else to the table? He's a complimentary player that doesn't compliment.

Sure he can shoot 3s, but so can Daniels.

Yeah he's just like Harden without any of the talent on either side of the ball or ability to create his own shot....or you know, a completely different player.

So we have one 3pt shooter and don't need anybody else? Um ok lol. K Mart is a good player as 2nd or 3rd option. He actually had some decent years here before Kevin McMorey became coach. He would fit VERY well on this current team we have

    Errr.....only one 3 point shooter??

    Daniels
    Parsons
    Love
    Harden
    Canaan
    Covington

I'd rather not pay $7 million for an aging player that can only shoot 3s.

Asik to Philly, Charlotte, Utah, Atlanta for a pick, future picks. Pick to Orlando with Lin, #25, and $3.3 million for Afflalo.

Afflalo, Jones and/or DMo, Powell, Casspi to Minny.

Love, Martin, Mbah A Moute, Shved to Houston.

That's one iteration of the trade(s) that works and leaves Minny with plenty of cap to sign Paul.

Have you never seen Martin play? He can definitely create his own shot.

That would not work under salary rules. I assume you were accounting for an exception from the Asik trade to cover Martin's salary? However, Love, Mbah A Moute, and Shved make a combined $23,300,362 compared to just $12,956,469 for Afflalo, Jones, DMo, Powell, and Casspi.

Doesn't even come close to working.
