"Rockets can dangle Chandler Parsons, Terrence Jones, Asik, draft picks to get in the game." -@APkrawczynski
Credible? Yes and No... Yes because he got the part where we would get Kevin Love as #2 but No because he is inaccurate in saying that LBJ would not come here...
LOL THEY ARE NOT TRADING PARSONS I wonder if we could get LBJ to sign a one year minimum deal so we can trade for Love with a promise that we'd give him one billion dollars!
To be fair, that sounds like he's speculating along with his other tweets. The only tweet that sounds sourced is "Houston is a team to watch."
This is the AP writer who covers the Rockets https://twitter.com/kristieAP I'm guessing since it's the Minny AP writer reporting it. The T-Wolves leaked this info to round up better offers. Feigen has tweeted about the Rockets having an offer on the table for Love but I assume it's something the T-Wolves would not even consider.

Rockets, by the way, absolutely have an offer on the table. Can offer expirings, young talent, but Thompson best potential rebuild piece.
— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) June 20, 2014

HE PLAYS THE SAME POSITION AS THE FREE AGENT WE ARE TRYING TO SIGN SO WHY NOT? It's annoying, right? Parsons is tradable. Hell… Harden is tradable if it's for the best player on the planet.
I was quoting what Basketballholic says in the format he says it whenever there is a story that talks about trading Parsons.
He is credible because he covers the Wolves. Something to consider..... If you are Morey, and you are being told that Anthony is a long shot, James is going to resign in Miami, Lowry is going to cost too much and you have limited potential to add another elite player and a limited windown to make a move... what do you do?? You go all in on Kevin Love. You figure out every way possible to deal Asik and or Lin for something the Wolves want... you make all your picks available.... you make Parsons available... you do everything you can to get: Harden/Love/Howard... AND with a trade, you keep your MLE I don't know that Morey can do it, but I can see why he would turn his attention to Love over Anthony.
I think they have less of a chance at getting Love than Lebron personally, but in your hypothetical, if you can get Love locked up now you just go ahead and do it.
I think it is a long shot as well. I don't see how you leverage your assets for players the Wolves want AND take back someone like Kevin Martin based on the salary structure the Rockets have. Still, if you see your choices really shrinking, you give it your absolute best shot. As far as LeBron James goes, I don't think he wants to go play for a third team. He is comfortable in Miami, he likes the coach and GM. I think he just wants assurances that the Heat will be more proactive the next few years.
The Rockets offer to Minny includes Asik or a pick that Asik is traded for or a player that a pick that Asik is traded for is traded for. Lin or Lin traded to a 3rd team along with #25 for nothing. Jones and/or DMo going to Minny along with a couple future picks. Minny sends out Love, Martin, Mbah A Moute, and Shved. Minny potentially winds up with Afflalo (received in a trade for the pick we trade Asik for) and Pau Gasol signed in free agency....and enough cap space to go after Marc Gasol next summer. Houston receives Love, expirings, and possibly Martin....or Martin might be sent to a 3rd team. Bottom line is we are in the Love sweepstakes and are one of the strongest players. That's not going to change on draft night. And for Minny to maximize it's return on Love it has to trade him before July 1, if they indeed want cap space to add Pau Gasol.
1 - LBJ 2 - Love . . . 3 - Melo . 4 - whoever makes the bench deeper I'd be happy with any of the above. But getting Love would be right under LBJ in my order and way above getting Melo. And yes I'd trade Parsons for Love. And heck I'd take Martin back and I am a MOH.
I could see Love wanting to come to Houston - but I can't see Minny wanting to take our offer. It would probably be Lin, Asik, Parsons (can we even trade him right now?) and 2 first rounders. They don't need or want Lin. Asik is a nice piece but they have their big man already. And the Timberwolves in full rebuilding mode probably doesn't want to pay that balloon salary. Now Parsons they probably want and first round picks are nic - but they are late first rounders, you probably could just buy picks like that. The Rockets could sweeten the deal - include Beverly or Jones and taking back salary. But compared to what teams like Boston, GSW or even Cleveland can offer, our offer looks bad. I don't see any real chance of us getting him.
The stuff above Afflalo, Pau Gasol and Marc Gasol are not really relevant to our offer as those are moves they would be able to do in any other offer as well. So basically your offer is Asik/Lin/Jones or DMO for Love, Martin and fillers. Why would they want to do that when there are better offers on the table?
While I tend to agree with you on Parsons not being dealt (the whole idea was to have 4 elite players).... I can see Morey waivering on that point now. He is looking at a real possibility of not adding ANY substantial player to the team in free agency or trade. So the question is.... If the difference between the Rockets getting Love and the Warriors getting him..... at what point does Morey throw in Parsons. I never thought he would HAVE to do it..... but it is looking like he may need to. Asik to a third team for an asset (asset sent to Minn) Lin dealt to third team (Rockets give up an asset) Terrence Jones sent to Minnesota Motiejunas sent to Minnesota Two future #1 picks Chandler Parsons for Kevin Love Kevin Martin Mbah A Moute Shved
