No. Lowry is UFA since he was just finishing the deal we got him for after he hit RFA 3 years ago. He signed an offer sheet with CLE and we matched. Now he's Unrestricted.

I really like Lowry and think he would fit this team perfecty. Great defender, developed a good 3pt shot, good at getting at the rim but doesn't need to take many shots. He can provide offense when Harden is off. If we get him I'd be happy.

But didn't he leave because he didn't get along with McHale?

How would Lowry fit with Harden? Harden likes to handle the ball a lot. I still feel Bev is the perfect fit with Harden at a much cheaper price. To me the 4 spot needs an upgrade way more than the PG spot, plus I don't think Lowry wants to be a 3D guy.

The current Houston team roster and the coach is not exactly a desirable destination for PGs

He now regrets that and takes the blame for it. I think he'd like to come back.

I would love this pick up because we are getting solid defensive effort from our point guards for 48 min. I'm curious as to how ball handling duties would work between Harden and Klow. Is Lowry a good spot up shooter?

Then, clearly, Lowry is my 2nd option on the list, maybe the first option since the rockets could waste all the time without getting anyone, even Lowry, who could be gone before our 4th option plan has been executed.

Lowry is better than Bev in every department.

The fit between Lowry and Harden will be no issues. Harden knows Lowry's abilities and they will both take turns to handle the rock. I don't see how Lowry becomes a 3D guy like you state.

There is this strong misconception that Harden pounds the ball and is a detriment to any PG. Not true. Bev is limited offensively and that is why Harden plays defacto PG. With Lowry, Harden can play more off the ball and let lowry do his thing.

Except Harden had the same USG% as Demar Derozan.

Wait why? I like Melo and would love for him to be on this team, but Lebron is by far a better option for us. We need an elite defender to pair up with dwight and an elite playmaker to pair up with Harden. He's a leader, and he will make Harden accountable for his defense, or lack thereof. I'd want Lebron more for his leadership because that what this team really needs. On top of that a player who averages 27, 7, 7.
Melo is great too, but he's somewhat of a ballhog and he doesn't play defense. He will defeinitely be an upgrade on PF, so he still makes a hell of a lot better, but Lebron is the best option, no doubt.

cyberx, I noticed you didn't mention Kevin Love. Do you think the Rockets really have given up on him?

I see your points, but I doubt that is going to happen. This is purely your speculation whether Harden would play more off the balls next to lowry.

Harden is a 1on1 player and he is damn good at it, he doesn't like to play offball, he doesn't like to cut, he likes to take his man 1on1, or run pnr. Whether he and lowry will fit will depend on Mchale's ego management, which.... i have no faith in it.

When I said Houston is not exactly a desirable place for PGs is more towards Mchale than Harden. Mchale isn't exactly the coach that values PGs and let PGs play through mistakes.

My point is getting an upgrade on the 4 spot would benefit this team a lot more as 4 spot is the glaring issue, and possibly more attractive to other PFs in this league who wish to be developed under Mchale.

Lowry would be perfect for this team. then you just need to get an average stretch PF who can play average d (not let someone go off for 50 for 3 games) and we're set.

For those of you and Carl, who seems to be aware of the situation):

PPat is extremely unlikely. He is restricted and with all the injuries Amir Johnson had played through, Masai would likely have an alternative in case Amir breaks down. Amir is also expiring next year.

As for Lowry, I am not entirely sure if Masai is willing to overpay for him. A sign and trade of Lin + 25th or Lin + DMo (or worst case Lin + 25th + DMo) might be possible. While Asik is a great asset, Masai and Casey has publicly stated that they want the young core to play together and develop. Since Asik wouldn be an expensive backup for Valanciunas, not to mention him not being a bench player, I doubt Masai would want Asik on the team.

Personally, if Lebron actually opts out, I think Bosh is most likely to come here and play with Harden and Dwight out of all the other free agents.

I would like that. Bosh is a much better fit and exactly what we need - A stretch 4 that can defend with championship experience

While I would love to have Lowry back, our weakest spot that needs to be immediately addressed is PF.

LeBron will still take path of least resistance. That's out East. There's no promise we win the division. San Antonio will hack-the-hell out of Dwight even though he finds it "disgusting".

I I think, when he applauded Melo for leaving, it meant where do you want to play Mr. Anthony out East Mr. Anthony? Parker has been playing for YEARS at way below value because he wins millions bike riding. Any Eastern teams want to trade young future stars to win now? Create parity out East for after Lebron is finished.

God not Bosh. I'd rather see what TJones added to his game. I want Lowry, but Bev too important and I don't think Lowry looking to time share.

Just ride it out. Not Omer's best idea, but he finally started having fun the end of last year. Maybe a SnT with Bosh is possible taking a paycut to match with Asik. A 1 year contract here. He doesn't really have many options if he wants to win again. It's his own fault for joining the Big 3. That also gives us some bench points and FU Pop.

One possible but very unlikely scenario:

Trade Lin plus 1st and 2nd round picks to Toronto for S&T Lowry @ $10 to 12 mill a season.

Trade Asik to Atlanta for Milsap.

Use MLE of other Free Agent upgrades

As I said I think it's pie in the sky but you could have a line-up that looked like this:
    Lowry/PBev
    Harden/Daniels
    Parsons/Covington
    Milsap/TJones
    D12/DMo

Plus whoever you want to spend your $5.3 million Mid Level exception on.
