Honestly, the only way i see Lebron returning to Miami is by siging Melo and dumping Wade or somehow keeping all 4. Which this is next to impossible as both Wade and Bosh are no longer can afford not to be signed for a near-Max contracts. Wade is like Rose, he is done or on a decline. This is like the Lakers signing Kobe to Max extension just because he is Kobe and not due to him as a valued player. See how Lakers are screwed now... Doubt Miami is that dumb.

James wants rings he wants championships, therefore he wants to go to team that can get him the rings. Not to mention, he doesnt want to play long minuates in reg seasons. He wants an easier path or a team that can win the finals. Sure the East will get him to the Final, but I doubt the current Eastern Conference could challenge the West. Honestly the way Miami played, I could think of few Western finals teams can beat them easily as well.

I got a good feeling that Rockets has the most upsides to attract James comparing us to all other teams. What other team could offer a combo of Howard and Harden? We just need to get rid of Lin and Asik. I like Lin but when it comes to James, no comparisons.

For the Rockets sake, the best news now would be that Wade opts in.

Maybe Wade is all about winning to the point that he will take that paycut. Maybe he has enough money stacked away that he will go for rings over cash. But he is already on the decline and if the Heat were to make moves JUST on what would make the team better, I don't know that the Heat would bring back Wade after he opted out at all.

Lebron said he isn't taking a pay cut just so the Heat can avoid the luxury tax penalty, but the Heat would be 4th year offenders if they do what he wants and the cost will be insane. Certainly their owner could afford to do it if he doesn't mind losing millions for his entertainment, but it's a cost that would continue to rise. If the Heat aren't willing to take a big loss in luxury tax then that also helps the Rockets chances.

Problem is.....how do they go about doing that? The MLE will not be enough to bring in Lowry or Gortat.

The ONLY option for them is for Bosh, Wade, Haslem, and Anderson to opt out and take (in some cases, significant) paycuts. They also have to trade Cole.

    Broussard:

(The Heat) would love a Kyle Lowry. He's gonna command $10-11 million. Not saying it's happening but if Wade and Bosh opt out and say give us $55-60 million over 4 years and LeBron takes less, that gives them room.

    Surprised he went solo?

Not at all. They're all at different stages.

Irving, LeBron and Love? That's a better big three in Miami, no question.

    Stays? 55%
Wade? Truly up in the air if he opts in/out.

I do think the best thing for his image(even though it is restored) would be to go to Cleveland.

For those wondering if the Lakers can land both Melo and James:

    Lakers Salary $36,259,471
    - Decline the qualifying offers to Kent Bazemore & Ryan Kelly
    - Cut Kendal Marshal non-guaranteed contract – $915,243
    - Shed the Steve Nash contract - $9,701,000
    - Renounce all free agents including Pau Gasol
    - Trade the #7 draft pick to prevent $2,413,300 cap hold
    - Add incomplete roster charge for 9 spots + $4,566,024
    Lakers Adjusted Salary $30,209,252

    - Projected 2014/2015 Salary Cap 63,200,000
    - Lakers can spend $32,990,748 on free agency
    - Only players on roster would be Kobe Bryant, Nick Young & Robert Sacre

The Lakers could divide the remaining cap between Lebron and Melo at $16,495,374 each. They would have no MLE to spend to upgrade the roster, only the Room Mid Level Exception worth $2,732,000, possibly the Bi-Annual Exception (if they did not use it last season) worth $2,139,000 and minimum player contracts.

    Kobe Bryant
    Lebron James
    Carmelo Anthony
    Nick Young
    Robert Sacre

I have no clue how that team with little to no ability to add to the roster is supposed to be better than the Miami team Lebron is currently on. Kobe is older and more beat up than Dwayne Wade. I just don’t see the attraction. Just one injury and that team could be lottery bound again trying to survive in the Western Conference.

Plus, I question just how easy it will be for the Lakers to trade Nash for no returning salary unless they add the #7 pick. The current Lakers management has not shown themselves to be very competent.

If I'm Morey, I'm differentiating the pitch as much as I possibly can. Some of the main points -

    1. Lebron and his team get major say in the direction of the Rockets' new uniforms

    2. Lebron gets to select the lead assistant and/or Head Coach

    3. Create projections that demonstrate playing in Houston gives him a real shot at averaging a triple double

    4. The no-brainer, build the campaign around having the best player at 3 positions

    5. Add Kevin Sumlin to the recruiting team (no, not serious, sad I'd even have to denote that)

    "Shed the Steve Nash Contract"

That seems like quite a tall task.

The big issue there is dumping the #7 for literally nothing (I guess they sell it or take a future first or something?) and then dumping Nash.

I guess they could call the Sixers up and offer Nash and #7 for a future first. I bet Philly would jump all over that.

I agree with all points. Try telling Lakers fans you traded away the #7 pick in what is supposed to be a deep draft for cap space and a future 1st rounder. If they do that they certainly better be sure that they are getting Lebron.

Trading the dead weight salary of Nash will be a tall task for sure because he will likely not play at all this season.

Ha, can you imagine if the Lakers traded Nash and #7 for a lottery protected first from the Sixers to clear room and then Melo signs in Houston and Lebron stays in Miami?

David Stern would want his job back to nix some deals!

I know it would never happen in a billion years, but LeBron on the Grizzlies would be incredible.
