In order for Chicago to pick up anyone, they need to amnesty Boozer. Is Boozer worth most or all of our MLE for one season? I don't watch a lot bulls basketball, so I don't know how good he still is.
He doesn't help our defense at all... But is a major upgrade offensively over what we have. If we strike out on the big names id be content with Lowry boozer.
Amnesty doesn't work like that. When amnestied, other teams are allowed to put in a bid for his services. The highest big "wins" and pays him that amount for the rest of hsi contract, which in this case would be 1 year. If Boozer is worth the MLE, a team will put in that much of a bid on him. And the Rockets cannot bid on him because they are currently over the cap.
As an aside, a lot of stupid contracts given out in that 2010 free agent class. I'd guess more than half these guys didn't finish out the contract or didn't finish it out with the team that signed them. Many of them actually amnestied. Carlos Boozer - 5 years 80 mil Chris Bosh - 6 years 110 mil Josh Childress - 5 years 35 mil(AMNESTIED) Raymond Felton - 3 years 25 mil Channing Frye - 5 years 30 mil Rudy Gay - 5 years 82 mil Drew Gooden - 5 years 32 mil(AMNESTIED) Al Harrington - 5 years 34 mil Brendan Haywood - 6 years 55 mil(AMNESTIED) LeBron James - 6 years 110 mil Richard Jefferson - 4 years 39 mil Amir Johnson - 5 years 32 mil Joe Johnson - 6 years 123 mil David Lee - 6 years 80 mil Linas Kleiza - 4 years 18.8 mil(AMNESTIED) Wes Matthews - 5 years 34 mil Darko Milicic - 4 years 20 mil(AMNESTIED) Mike Miller - 5 years 30 mil(AMNESTIED) Dirk Nowitzki - 4 years 80 mil Travis Outlaw - 5 years 35 mil(AMNESTIED) Johan Petro - 3 years 10 mil Paul Pierce - 4 years 61 mil John Salmons - 5 years 39 mil Luis Scola - 5 years 47 mil(AMNESTIED) Amar'e Stoudemire - 5 years 99.7 mil Tyrus Thomas - 5 years 40 mil(AMNESTIED) Dwyane Wade - 6 years 107 mil Hakim Warrick - 4 years 18 mil
That's crazy talk. T. Jones would own him one on one or in a game setting, and I am NOT sold on T. Jones.
