The point is the Rockets were the 4th seed and easily could have been in the championship unlike that team in Austin, the Toros.

So you are comparing the Big 12 to the D League? How odd.

Everything is cyclical, Aggies. Us Hornfolk learned our lesson in the late 80s-90's.

The thing you are forgetting is that this is the same thing the Aggies said all through the 2000s .. Of course it is cyclical, and right now its good to be an Aggie

No doubt! It's still always fun to throw a few harmless barbs this way and that. I root for you guys, just like I did when I grew up with the Sherrill/Slocum Wrecking Crew. If you have "Texas" on your jersey, I will root for you.

Except Tech. **** those guys. ;)

The difference is you had Mack Brown and the Aggies have Kevin Sumlin.

Sumlin is an absolute star who has been rumored to be in the running for USC and the NFL.

Brown was an old man who the game had passed by, but it took 3 more years for him to figure out the writing on the wall.

The thing that Longhorn fans seem to not recognize...Sumlin is the reason for the Aggies dominating in recruiting. He is producing on the field and he is doing even better in the homes of recruits all over Texas. And he's a young guy...gonna be here for awhile.

Good luck with Strong. Texas needs a strong program in College Station AND Austin.

I'm comparing "if we'd only won 3 more games we'd have been da champs" to lollerskates.

The concern about Strong is that he isn't the best recruiter in the world. He is lights out on the X's and O's though. He should hire assistants that are known recruiters.

In a year or two, I expect that Strong will have that team better than they were the last few years under Brown.

But when Strong has forbidden the players smile, does winning even matter to them anymore? You cant really celebrate a national title victory after a prime time game when your curfew is 10:30pm CST.

Kansas - 2 total wins against Texas (last one was in 1938)
Iowa State - 1 total win against Texas (2010)
Tech - 1 win versus Texas in last 11 years (2008)

    Kansas - beat A&M in 2007
    Iowa State - 1 total win against A&M (2005)
Tech - won 7 of last 11 meetings against A&M

Somebody who has no business beating them will beat them this year. Last year it was BYU. This year it could be in conference.

I expect Texas to have a down year as the recruits that Brown brought in continue to struggle and Strong begins to implement his system.

You try to be civil, cordial, but eventually you realize that you are talking to people who willfully spent 2-6 years in Bryan/CS. Hard to take anybody seriously at that point.

    You most certainly did.

Its a little hard for Sumlin to "win" anything with guys who he recruited but haven't played yet for TAMU.

He's only been there 2 years. Guys he's recruited this year don't show up till fall 2015. Guys he recruited last year don't show up till this fall.

I heard Lebron opted out. Quick, send in Sumlin.

All those 5 stars don't seem to mind living in B/CS... But hey congrats on having Austin it's an awesome city (that's assuming you went to Texas, which, as KingCheetah would say, is UNLIKELY).

This is just not accurate. He was known as an ace recruiter as DC, and he was a big reason why Florida recruited lights out defensively while he was there. At Louisville, he tapped into south Florida pipelines that the school never really had. He maybe hasn't had the new coach bump at Texas that many anticipated, but I think I'll take the years of data that show him as a good recruiter rather than a few months of one offseason.

Yeah because, you know, going to a good school like Texas A&M doesn't play a part in anyone's decision AT ALL. Ridiculous statement.

Sumlin's best chance was his very first year when he caught the entire SEC off guard. He just went 9-4 and will probably go 6-6 this year. Recruits will start to see that he is not a good coach and will start flocking back to Texas. You can't be worse in year 3 than year 1. I am expecting recruits will be jumping off the bandwagon and coming back to a team who actually has accomplished something.
