I don't get why some people are acting like Melo going to Chicago is career suicide. It's a pretty good situation. I happen to think our situation is superior, but it's not like he'd be picking Milwaukee or something.

Depends if LaLa still has her husband by the balls. She's a big-glamour, big-name-city girl. And she's got the acting bug.

Not saying Melo should do what his wife wants, but it'll come into play.

He isn't Anna Kournikova, male athletes still typically need to be elite or have a track record for being elite to win major sponsorship deals. People don't buy Jordan's because they want to **** him.

Exactly what I have been saying all along.

You're not just selling Melo on Houston vs Chicago or Houston's support players vs Chicago's, you're also selling him on a top 5 NBA coach like Thibs comapred to a clueless, pathetic, bottom 3 NBA coach like McHale.

Chicago clearly has that advantage. I doubt Melo wants to waste another year playing for an incompetent loser coach. McHale is a net liability to Houston esp after this past season where we should have easily reached at least the 2nd round considering the roster with two top 10 players in the NBA to begin with.

I'm the exact opposite. I don't see what makes Chicago a good situation at all. Gambling on Rose's health is no different then gambling on Phil's ability to build a contender in NY. Sure they have a great coach in Thibs, but even at full strength... I don't see them being better than Indiana or Miami.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see how Chicago is a better choice over staying in NY or looking to come to Houston.

Guaranteed Melo would think more highly of Hollins than McHale which automatically increases Houston's chances at landing Melo. Having a good, well respected coach allows you to make a better pitch.

This is a place where he doesn't have to play defense. ... He can go play no defense and score a lot of points in Houston.

Rockets were 13th rated defense last year and most of that hit was a lack of defensive rebounding.

The general public is so ill-informed, its sad.

Defensive rebounding and turnovers on the offense.

13th is still bad if you want to be true championship contenders and that poor defense falls entirely on coaching or lack thereof and no accountability on D.

I believe you have to be top 10 in both categories to have better chances of winning it all.

Not really, because Hollins won't be our head coach.

Until Melo meets with all the teams interested just like Dwight Howard did and "get woo'd" so to speak no team INCLUDING THE BULLS have Melo wrapped up in their back pocket. Cut all the BS. Media hypes Chicago while former players like Oscar Robinson and Chris Webber are saying he should go to Houston. It's a wait and see game.

All that is true, but with Melo people need to keep in mind that when he did his own "MeloMare" it was to leave a contending team in Denver to go to an also ran in New York so that he could be part of a bigger market and his wife could have a market for her career.

People need to remember that. Melo has never demonstrated that he values "winning" over the other stuff. Until he proves that I'm going to be skeptical.
