USA will advance. Why so much love for the Germans? Are they really THAT good this year?

They systematically destroyed Portugal. They also aren't half bad. Plus, JK is German, so there's that too.

According to Germans I know, the answer is yes. At least on paper. But I will say they're not experts, as they're not really too much into the World Cup as opposed German league play. They kind of treat the World Cup the way Americans typically treat the US basketball team at the Olympics. They root, but in the end it's Bundesliga and Champions League that matters.

Michael Bradley getting a lot of hate lol. I won't hate on him, dude was creating a crap load of chances for the US all game, and he participated in the second goal. The last play of his was a dumb mistake, but I won't crucify him. He's still the US' best player.

We got a tie and have extremely high chances of qualifying.

He has been underwhelming so far, not bad, not good, he needs to pick it up.

I rate the US getting through at around 50/50.

The second goal was wacky, he actually mis-kicked, but the ball gratuitously bounced our way.

To compare him to Lin isn't hatred. Lin in the series against Por had moments of brilliance and moments of sheer stupidity. I think it's safe to say the same of Bradley.

he gave the ball over and over today and his passes were AWFUL. didnt hit ANYONE in stride and his shots on goal were laughable. on the last play for fks sakes just kick the ball towards the damn goalkeeper.

They are good but I am going to hold back on calling them dominant. They have an abundance of talent up front and in midfield, but once again, their achilles heel is their defense.

You can use pace to beat guys like Hummels, Boateng, and Mertesacker. Mertsacker can be turned into a liability with the right tactical moves. Lahm is playing in the midfield this tournament, as opposed to defending previously. As a defender he has a tendency to over commit on attack which leaves the German backline particularly exposed to counter attacks.

I am just not sold on Germany's defense.

Honestly, I feel like this World cup is wide open. None of the traditional power houses are clearly dominant. Brazil has the home field advantage but they have not impressed me. France has been impressive but they have not been tested yet. They were gifted a really weak group. I am not sure if Holland is really good or Spain was just terrible. Likewise, Germany looked fantastic against Portugal but perhaps Portugal is just bad.

If France maintains their form in the knock out stages and German offense keeps clicking enough to overcome their questionable defense, these two are my picks.

But............ he was slow the majority of the game man. He missed a sure fire goal, made terrible passes throughout and can't defend at all.

    Dempsey/Howard are our best players....

Bradleys mistake was leaving series A to come play in MLS in my honest opinion.

If we don't advance..... it's all on the freaking baldy Bradley.

Bradley choked. Tried to do too much and didn't make the logical play.

Any American rooting against USA can EAD.

Why couldn't someone unload the ball in the corner with 30 seconds left?

Bradley has his really good/bad moments.

    Yikes.

I will say, whatever happens, that klins deserves the US Squad in 4 years.

They have more points than anyone expected.

Bradley made the same idiotic mistake in the final moments of Ghana going for a cross instead of wasting time.

Someone should have slapped him and told him to make the right play. Unfortunately this time is cost us.

He was smart to do so after the game. He recognized the importance of the game vs Germany. Can't fret on what can't be reversed.

Cameron was equally to blame tonight.

He was responsible for not one, but two of the goals tonight.
