    This are the tie breaker scenarios..

    a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
    b) goal difference in all group matches;
    c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
    d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
    e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;

    So, a 1:0 loss to Germany and a 2:0 win by Ghana or a 2:0 loss to Germany and a 1:0 win by Ghana would eliminate us.

    All the time ... but the thing why would Germany do that? They are going to make sure they score 1 or 2 goals first. That's German.

    I'm glad that I'm so indifferent to this sport, or that would have really hurt.

    I watch the games and get a little excited, but the second the game is over I'm on to something else. If this would have happened to the Rockets, Astros or Texans it would have ruined my entire day lol

    The game against Germany is on Thursday, right? Have they announced the time yet?

    Yes, but if we lose by the same margin they win by, but our game is higher scoring, we will advance based on tiebreaker C. If we lose with the exact same score that Ghana wins with, we will go to tiebreaker D, and we will advance.

    At least then the team could have focused on defending the free kick, they obviously fell asleep entirely as a team expecting the whistle to blow.

    Not only do they let one of the best players get a free cross in but they let another player just get behind pretty much unchallenged for the header.

    Just like the Lilliard moment, team just goes to sleep for one moment and pay for it.

    Germany and the US should just sit down on the pitch for 90 minutes, maybe play some patty cake and take the draw. We both would advance and we wouldn't have to waste our energy or risk injury... sound good? How pissed do you think FIFA would be?

    I've never been a Bradley fan but even if he did run out of gas there's no excuse for the way he has played. First game against Ghana he was terrible and today he had some every costly plays (including losing possession with under a minute left in stoppage time). Just doing some venting. The US still got a point so there's that.

    I wish we had Donavon now. This is how you play the next game - rely on yourself. A pact to tie with Germany isn't going to be safe. We gotta help ourselves. Yes, we will talk to contacts in the German federation, and yes they will go like Okay, okay, but just don't count on that. Make a 9 man defense stance and stick Dempsey upfront, make the Germans think twice sending numbers to the front, because the speed and skill of Dempsey can hurt them. This also sends a statement to them that if you don't try to hurt us, we will not hurt you. Hopefully, they will get it.

    So head to head means nothing?

    If we both end up with 4 points, the fact that we beat them doesn't come into play, what a stupid rule.

    Lot of different scenarios that could happen.. I just listed the bare minimum that would take to send us packing.

    Yeah, he was lazy. Also I thought, Yellen could have turned and smacked the ball onto the Portuguese defenders to have a corner or throw-in. But given he is relatively inexperienced ... all and all, not a bad result.

    That's not quite true. In the US-lose / Ghana-win scenario, the US can only lose by 1 and Ghana can only win by 1. If the US loses by 2+, we're out. If Ghana wins by 2+, we're out. We'd lose tiebreaker B in those scenarios, so C and D wouldn't matter.

    Geez. World Cup is even more rigged than I thought. And I figured it was just the refs.

    Btw, I feel kind of weird that I really could care less about the US team's performance. I want them to win, but that's more because I have too many friends who are socc...err... football fans. So it's more to help with conversations than actual giving a damn about them winning.

    I care a lot more about US athletes competing in the Olympics. Perhaps it's the (relatve) amateur angle?

    The country at the center of the most controversial rigged tie?

    Germany (1982)

    We can't beat nor tie the Germans. Everyone needs to give up on this idea. We have 4 pts, that's all we are getting

    Germany is going to win this WC people. And they will decide our fate if they want to

    I don't remember that game as I was too young then. If it were Italy, I would not even worry about it, it's going to be tie. But, the Germans are bit conservative. Given they are not completely safe at this point, I think they will want to score a goal or two first to make sure they are 100% safe, and then let the US figure out what to do while sub out their core players for the next round. That would be a logical approach of Germany.
