I would love if Morey pulled off a blockbuster Pat Riley type deal and traded Lin/Asik to NY for Melo and traded Harden to Miami for Lebron to wind up with a BIG 3 of Lebron Melo and DH. If Bosh/Lebron/Wade could take the Heat to 4 finals and 2 WC Melo/James/DH would be even better. It's far fetched that Lebron even leaves Miami, him and his family seem to love Miami. Not sold on Melo and Harden. Morey needs to think long and hard on that one.
How many of those 9 guys you named does the team really want? How many among those that the team wants is the team willing to pay whatever the market price for them ends up being? Does the team, for example, even want Lance Stephenson's volatile personality in the locker room or on the floor? Does the team want to be committing, say, $40M for 4 years with him? Does the team consider Rudy Gay, who is a pretty poor shooter from 15 feet out, a good enough fit to be committing big $ to? Is having either of these guys on big $ deals better than having large expiring contracts plus assets with which to continue to pursue a trade during the season? And the restricted guys are just nearly impossible to sign unless you grossly overpay give the matching rights. The really good players like Bledsoe PHX will likely match all offers, including a max offer. Morey will pursue improvements, but he won't do the equivalent of the Bulls overpaying Carlos Boozer in 2010 after missing out on Lebron, Wade and Bosh just to do something.
This logic always astounds me. The Rockets lost to Portland because they didn't score enough points in four of the six games. That's the only 100%, iron-clad fact. There are many factors, some of offense such as Harden not having an unusual 8-for-28 shooting night, that could have switched the results of some of those games. The only thing the Portland series loss proved was that the Rockets need a better basketball team. There are many ways and strategies to go about doing that.
Amick is accurate but bluffing. Moving both will be no easy task. We may not get back fair value because of the contracts. (((((Grabs my flame suit, zip it up, open soul to share a phone call, grabs the wifey and says "teh internetz sometimez hatez deh messengerrr)))) ...I don't know Doc, CyberX, etc but I respect them for having different access to info. They are VIP. On the flip side, I'm a regular guy with 2 awesome jobs, one which involves high-level hoops. I simply am friends with some diverse circles (some powerful, others just straight ballers) that "know". That's why I knew about JHamilton well before it happened... ANYWAY (forget my tired ass)... (Disclaimer: this is from a conversation) it is not completely agreed that Lin is gone. Although the voices are loud, the variables are many. Our players are equally loud and their opinions are very, very different. One of our strong voices is completely adamant about wanting PatBev as our PG with Lin being gone. Others are loyal, naturally, and don't care about the poison-pill contract. Brothers are brothers, but the time of your "birth" into the family may influence your opinion. Jason Collins is a far-fetched connection. Why do you keep him around? Is it basketball reasons? Skill? Leadership? Locker room cohesion? Players talk. Agents talk. Staff talk. You lose more by losing Lin than Omer (for many reasons, fair or not). The players don't give a hot f*** about that. They just want a pg. That pg should be THE pg. No more playing "Guess Who" during the season. (End Conversation) Personal opinion: I don't know how anything will work financially until I read Bima's posts. I find it interesting that Lin's value is not only based on his production. Was it like that for Yao? It has been so long...Yao's numbers, when healthy, were crazy. I miss that guy... Imagine if we could have had Dwight and Yao somehow... Love ya'll, especially my life-long Rox fans. -Cod PS...don't email some ish you wouldn't have the balls to say to my face
makes sense, move them to get a tier 1 free agent, if not, keep the expiring contracts for the next trade deadline or walk into next year free agency with some cap space, not sure how much though
Not surprising that the players don't all agree about Lin or any other topic. Some people are attracted to fashion models, while others... Spoiler Different strokes... What I don't get is talks of "Guess who" at PG. It seems pretty clear that Beverley is the starting PG all season. Lin only started when Beverley or Harden were injured and the team needed him to fill in. Is there any discussion among the coaches or players on this point?
Codman, interesting info regarding the locker room situation. I think we all know who that strong voice is. I wonder if thats one of the things some Rocket players was referring to when they mentioned ' personal agenda' during the exit interviews.
Thanks Codman, but I didn't quite get the Jason Collins part... How can you be so sure? In terms of court dynamics the answer is Harden, however I doubt ANY member of the squad has voiced that Lin should "be gone."
Yao coming to coach? Lin possibly having strong backers in the locker room? Parsons comes to mind. Harden may even come to mind because they have played together longer. Howard comes off as a guy who doesn't care much about the people on his team and just wants what he perceives as the best talent. Morey will do what is best for the team. He won't fall into a Otis Smith trap. Jason Collins? That's your second mention of him or not discriminating. Are you insinuating that Rudy Gay may be the guy we bring over? Or does this mean we have our eyes on JC as a back up C? That could mean Deron Williams and JC would come to Houston? Maybe Harden doesn't like the idea of Lin leaving and DW filling in the starters spot? I really have no idea what your post says but thanks for posting it anyways. If you want to email me stuff in clear English you are more than welcome to , I can keep a secret.
I'm sure you're implying Harden, but he's the one who says he thinks the team is fine as-is. Dwight, OTOH, has suggested he would like to play with both Melo & Lebron -- both of which would require moving Lin. ETA: Dwight is also the person who was "born" into the core more recently than any of the others, as the poster suggested.
