Hope this is true. Good to know if we don't hit a home run in Free agency we will still have a deep roster. I know we've all kind if excepted the fact that Asik and Lin are done as rockets, but they can both really help the team next year if they're still here. Plus, it gives us huge cap flexibility for next summer. Obviously plan A is to trade them and sign LBJ or Melo. But it's not like we are completly screwed if we keep them.
I pity the fans of the team that acquires Lin but I will smile all the same knowing the horrors that await them.
The LOFs aren't the problem, it's the trolls pretending to be LOFs. And you can be sure it'll be even worse if we get Lebron or when Lin goes Linsanity again. Hopefully they'll back off if we get Melo but if we get booted in the first round again it's going to be crazy in here. Like always, the voice of reason.
At least Lin has fans regardless where he goes... Who here follow Dwight here over from LA ? Who here actually cared about Harden in OKC? Pretty much no one, they just left him once he was gone but Lin is special, as a person people like him and will support and follow him wherever he goes. It should be an honor to Rocket fans to have a whole fan base to join their team.
Imagine this, we ship out Harden+Lin for something of great value then sign Melo and Lebron. What would be a realistic package for Harden+Lin? I see no problem shipping out Asik.
It's not, because being a fan of one player instead of a collective team completely takes away what basketball is. A team sport. Something that the Spurs exemplified this year, and it was beautiful to watch. You don't just root for one guy to do well or you're missing the whole point. Just my two cents.
You will never see it the way a fan of the team does. If Lin leaves, you'll likely just pack up and move on to the next team. Those of us who are fans of the team will remain Rockets fans as players phase in and out -- even if our fave players are the ones who come and/or go. That loyalty is what garners honor. Nothing "wrong" with hopping from team to team in support of a single player, I guess... but it does mean you'll never see things through the same lens of someone who is really a fan of a team.
Also the Rockets could be using the media reports to persuade Melo to further his desire to sign with the Rockets. It's not like the Rockets would lose if both Lebron and Melo wanted to both come here (which is the least probable choice).
What are some possible teams that would take Lin? Asik? A lot of fringe playoff teams would love to have Asik, but what team would take Lin given the overabundance of average point guards? Utah? Detroit? Philly
Rumor is that Philly will trade MCW and Thaddeus Young for Lakers' #7 and Steve Nash. They plan on taking Exum with the third pic. Does Exum play the 2 as well? Or Lin will be a sixth man again?
