3 Team deal Maybe I have my homer glasses on but Millsap, Parsons, Lou Williams, Rockets 1st this year, and future 1st would be one heck of a deal for Minnesota. Pekovic Millsap Parsons Martin Rubio Would be an 8th seed contender. Would ATL get the short straw in this deal? Not entirely considering Asik allows Horford to move back to the 4 spot and they get Williams' off of their books. Hell, including Lin to ATL and Teague to Houston wouldn't be bad either. Howard Love Ariza at the MLE Harden Teague Beverly 6th man NOTE: I haven't had lunch yet so this might seem like one crazy post and it very well could be
You guys overvalue our players lol. Lin,T.Jones, DMo & Asik have little to no value compared to what teams like GS can offer. Even if you throw in a draft pick, that deal is pennies compared to other teams. My guess is all four will be back next year
Keeping in mind that Golden State also seems willing to take on Kevin Martin's contract, I do think that we are out of the running.
Exactly. People forget that we have always been an afterthought to the national media (ESPN) in this stuff. Agree. Let's not confuse what players opinion of us is and what the media's is. To the players, we have the best center and one of the best guards in basketball. Those are objective truths, not speculation or opinion. If these players want to win, we are THE BEST PLACE in the league to accomplish that. I think one of the subtle threats to LeBron is IF we add Melo, Love, Bosh, etc....we become a younger, more dynamic version of the Celtics big-3. He knows that eventually, the Spurs will run out of gas. But what if a Harden, Melo, Howard trio develops......can he really expect himself-Wade-Bosh to beat that? The REALITY is LeBron-Harden-Howard is better than..... LeBron - Rose - Noah LeBron - Wade - Bosh LeBron - Paul (Can't keep Griffin)
LA can keep griffen and trade deandrea (top 5-10 center) and the the 6th man of the year Crawford. that would be easier to trade than Asik and Lin but if Donald Sterling is still the owner LA has no change to get Lebron
That wouldn't even get them close to enough cap space to sign Lebron. If Collinson opts out the Clippers are still looking at $70M in salary for next season. If you believe that you could sign Lebron for $18M starting salary then they'd need to get down to around $45M. You could move Crawford and Jordan and they'd still be over $8M short of the space they'd need.
Not enough. They're locked into $70 million next year, assuming Collision and Big Baby opt out of their deals and LAC waives Willie Green. With the cap at $63 million, they would need to get down to $46 million to make a reasonable offer ($17.5 million/year). That means they would need to jettison: Jordan ($11.4) Redick ($6.8) Crawford ($5.5) Bullock ($1.2) All for zero salary in return. That would leave: Paul ($20.1) Griffin ($17.6) Barnes ($3.4) 9 cap holds ($4.6) No MLE. No BAE. No picks. No young complimentary talent. With the Rockets, we could offer almost $19 million and: Dwight ($21.4) Harden ($14.7) Parsons ($1.7) - Waived qualifying offer. Still have bird rights. TJones ($1.6) Beverley ($0.9) Daniels ($0.8) Canaan ($0.8) 5 cap holds ($2.6) We also own all of our picks (for the moment), and have the rights to Sergio Llull and Kostas Papanikolaou, 2 of the top 10 prospects in Euroleague. So when it comes down to it: Paul / ? ? / ? LeBron / Barnes Griffen / ? ? / ? vs. Bev / Canaan Harden / Daniels Parsons / ? LeBron / TJones Howard / ?
@timkawakami: An NBA source told me tonight that the Warriors flat out will not do the deals that Minnesota is currently suggesting. @timkawakami: One big snag: The source said the Warriors have no interest in taking back Kevin Martin, and so far Minnesota is insisting on it.

Lakers in talks to acquire Warriors' Klay Thompson for seventh pick in next week's draft, The Times has learned. http://t.co/nx0wyW7Hts
— Mike Bresnahan (@Mike_Bresnahan) June 21, 2014
The Lakers have been in discussions to acquire Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson for the seventh pick in next week’s draft, The Times has learned. The deal would be part of a larger three-way trade that sends Minnesota All-Star Kevin Love to the Warriors. The Lakers are interested but the deal has been put on hold because of a difference in opinion within the Warriors’ organization whether or not to keep Thompson while trying to obtain Love. Thompson, 24, averaged 18.4 points this season for the Warriors and became one of the league’s most potent three-point shooters. He is under contract for $4.5 million next season before becoming a restricted free agent. Thompson increased his scoring average by almost two points last season and improved his shooting percentage from 42.2% to 44.4%. He made 41.7% of his three-point attempts last season. The Lakers are debating what to do with the pick if they hang onto it. They have sold or traded every first-round pick they’ve had since 2007 and do not have one next season because of the Steve Nash trade. They are pondering whether to go with a power forward or point guard. They have narrowed their focus to big men Aaron Gordon, Julius Randle and Noah Vonleh or point guards Dante Exum, Marcus Smart and Elfrid Payton. When free agency begins July 1, the Lakers will have only three players making guaranteed money next season — Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Robert Sacre. Point guard Kendall Marshall has one year left on a non-guaranteed contract. A player on the rise such as Thompson would obviously provide more immediate return than an amateur player with no NBA experience. The Lakers, though, are also interested to see if Kansas center Joel Embiid falls to them with the seventh pick, assuming they don’t trade it. Embiid had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot Friday and could miss part or all of next season. He was a top-three pick for sure, and perhaps the top overall pick, before the surgery was announced. He has become injury-prone this year, missing the Jayhawks’ only two NCAA tournament games because of a stress fracture in his back.
^^ None of that makes much sense to me. I thought Minny wanted a solid player to build around, rather than picks? Also can't see LA wanting to give Klay the kind of payday he's due (let alone the max) or a long-term deal... why tie their hands at all before 2015 FA? Am I missing something?
Boston can give the #6 pick. Why would Minnesota want the #7 instead of Thompson when they could just trade with Boston? Strange.
posted this in the other thread, but this scares me; Melo to Boston possibly? If they give in to whatever Minnesota wants, do they have the cap space, or can they create it to form their big 3? http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-rumors-rajon-rondo-wants-carmelo-anthony-in-boston-celtics-knicks/
It does once you account for the fact that anything regarding the Lakers gets hits and help pays the bills.
couple of things, First, why not trade Barnes and free up space to sign Lebron to 20+ million? Second, Beverley, Canaan, Daniels and Jones are nobody's, If Lebron were to go to the Clippers, they could easily fill out the roster with players that our much better then them for vet minimum. Completely made up vet minimum free agent signings Paul/Blake Morrow/Miller/Garcia Lebron/Jefferson Griffen/Brand Kaman/Andersen/Hollins Boom just like that the clippers supporting cast is better then ours, and Lebron gets a 20 million a year contract.
