It seems like the same circumstance as before- Lebron to Chicago etc..... Than you know what happened.

The only other possible scenario is if Phil Jackson do both Anthony and the Bulls a solid and trade Anthony to the Bulls for Boozer, Dunleavy, and Jimmy Butler. That would still give the Knicks a bunch of cap room for 2015/2016 free agency and nets them a good player in Butler.

Still, even in that scenario, the Bulls lost even more depth.

As much as I'd love to see Love/Melo/LeBron in Houston, I would be just as excited if we managed to bolster our roster with a Millsap or other solid players.

Strip away markets and ask yourself: Why wouldn't Aldridge-Lillard-Batum core be supremely attractive partnership for max free-agent star?

I asked that same question until I thought about San Antonio. Portland was hot against us and we did everything to lose 4 close games.

Probably because they don't have any cap room, but if they want to trade away LMA or if someone wants to come play for the MLE it would be a great idea.

Not sure how much cap space Portland has, but surely it's not enough to lure somebody like Lebron or Melo to Portland, so that's why.

Yup... it is more competitive than ever before. You have literally a dozen teams competing for 2-3 players. Teams have learned from the Heat and Rockets and Celtics... assets matter.

I trust Morey over Foreman to find a way to get Anthony IF he wants to play in Houston. What scares me, is that Carmelo isn't the only one making the decision... his wife is too, and she prefers more glamerous cities... like NY, LA and CHI.

One thing to consider... would the Knicks trade with Chicago? I would think they would far rather deal him to the West.

If HOU can find takers for Lin and Asik's bloated contracts, why can't Portland find takers for a much more reasonable Matthews' contact?

PLUS: Market is a huge part, Atlanta could have signed CP3 AND Dwight with little to no effort and they both declined because the city....Is really not appealing......Portland, is also not appealing..

    Good question Woj but

    1. If you're intending to keep that specific core, what are you going to need? An elite center? An elite shooting guard? If yes to both, then you're **** out of luck because there aren't any available.

    2. If you're Portland and you want to get into this mix for Love, LeBron, and Anthony, what are you using as trade bait? You don't have good young players under contract to trade aside from Lillard, you don't have cap room until you move a host of players (Lopez, Matthews, Wright, Williams, etc.).

    3. You don't have your 1st rounder this year, and your 1st rounder next year isn't high enough.

    4. If you say "Okay Batum is up for grabs" who's going to bite? Miami? They'd want at least LMA or Lillard in return for LeBron. Same with New York and Minnesota.

    Woj is clearly bored.

Okay, well that would give them like 5 mil under the cap if they took nothing back....what else are you going to get rid of?

They would need to get rid of pretty much the rest of their team (aside from LMA, Batum, and Lillard) to equate Asik and Lin's cap hits.

I'll play along. What if LMA resents being in LeDiva's shadow and leaves when he becomes a free agent? In Houston, both the stars are locked up and Parsons is about to be locked up.

He and SAS (more Broussard) said MIA early on.

That is not true at all.

Stephen A Smith broke the Big 3 story on his radio show on June 28th. He was criticized around the country, including by Bill Simmons who made fun of him for the story.

Chris Broussard reported Lebron James to Chicago the very same day. Two days later he said Cleveland. It wasn't until July 8th, the day The Decision aired on ESPN that Broussard reported James was leaning towards the Heat barring a late change of heart.

    Edit: References
May 12th: Chicago is Lebron's top choice-Chris Broussard

July 6th: Lebron wants Bosh to join him in Cleveland-Chris Broussard
    July 8th: Lebron favoring Miami-Broussard

Also, can't find an active link, but in May Chris Broussard said that Lebron and John Calipari were a package deal wherever he ended up.

    Note: This is all 2010

If memory serves me correct, Broussard dropped that MIA thing early(probably pure spec by him then), then backed off it and ran with the CHI thing. I knew about Stephen A. and his radio show.

Damn, I loved 2010. I remember Woj tweeting how MIA had a shot being the scariest team in free agency before the playoffs began.
