Just discovered the A/C unit in our house has a leaky evaporator coil, and it being 15 years old is pretty much on it's last legs anyways. So we got some quotes on new units: Lennox 16 SEER, 4 ton (condenser, evaporator and furnace) $9800 Lennox 14 SEER, 4 ton (condenser, evaporator and furnace) $8400 (without furnace $5700) American Standard 14 SEER, 4 ton (condenser and evaporator) $6700 Anybody with experience in this area know if these are pretty good prices. I called Air Con out who seemed to have really good reviews. I don't necessarily want the cheapest price or anything, but I wanna make sure I'm not getting hosed. From my searching online these seem to be about right maybe. Any help would be appreciated cause I know next to nothing about A/C repair or installation.
That is crazy expensive. There is a guy I used and he is pretty honest and dependable. There used to be this Indian guy who fixed everyone's AC. Now that he retired I had to get a regular AC guys. His prices are much lower than what you posted but higher than the guy I used to use. If you want his number let me know.
Just spoke with my father in law..runs his own AC business. He said it's a little high. He installs American Standard equipment. Said you shod be in the 6k range. I can get you in touch with him if you want.
Sherv, will you email me the number through the board? I'm going to need an A/C job this year most likely.
I knew a guy who bought all the various materials and had it brought it to his house, then he just hired an a/c guy and his crew to install it. Supposedly it saved him 1000's of dollars. I used an A/C tech a couple of years ago who did a fantastic job at my house.. I'm gonna have to look for the number but will post back once I find.
That's what I was a little afraid of ..it's so hard to find estimates online especially when your comparing your equipment to something completely different. Yeah if ya'll could email their numbers through the board that'd be great.
2 1/2 ton 14 seer (my house is 1200 sq ft) amana. they replaced outdoor a/c unit and inside furnace/hvac unit. cost me $6,000 which was probably a little high, but they did good work and in two years i havent had any problems. i got a nice kick in the ballz this week when i found out i have about $8k in plumbing repairs coming my way due to broken washing machine drain line...they got to dig under the house.
I had a 14seer installed last September - cost $5500. I looked at it this way: I don't plan on being in this house another 5yrs (we had it built in 2002, and now with 2 kids are looking for a better area & a little bigger house), so spending a Lot of money on a really nice A/C wouldn't have benefitted us. We basically replaced the original with a very similar model.
I found the number: 832-687-0562, His name is Art. A really honest guy (personal opinion) who I believe works for a building services firm but does A/C work on the side. About 1 year ago, my house could not cool down at all. I had about 10 "different' repair techs and 6 different companies come out. It was either your house needs a 2nd unit, it's old and needs more insulation, or more freon, but I knew those were all wrong. Art was the only one out of the 10 guys who actually crawled everywhere in my attic, up "inside" the return air, outside, etc... He found out the problem was a massive gap in the Boxed Ductwork tucked away in the "SUPER HOT" attic and also smalls gaps where the ductwork was connected to the Duct Box. OMG it was like my whole house all of a sudden got a new unit. To top it off he charged me so little I had to give him more MONEY!!! I gave him $400 because he was in my attics for 4 hours total. It was nuts man, I thought the guy was going to die up there.
Sure, it's Michael over at Stafford.. One more thing I wanted to mention was I believe he lives near 290,Cyprus???? Because my supervisor referred me to this guy and he is constantly doing work in that area.
Southwest A.C. on s gessner and westpark. Tell 'em cash sale they sell u ur equip. U just. Need to find an installer.....cut ur costs in half......
Why are you getting quotes to replace the entire system if it is just your evaporator coil leaking? I had my evaporator coil replaced for around $1200 if I remember right.
JYD PM me. I have a guy who did my AC, and my sisters. Great guy. Owns his own company. Let me know if you need a second quote. that is really high man
Also check for high efficiency tax credits and manufacturer rebates on equipment. I got $1600 total back when I had a new system installed a few years back.
make it easy for you call JOE WHITE best AC in town. honest and fair! 832 978 5276 let me tell you about Joe.. he once put a new system at my condo and something unrelated went out. It was electrical. nothing to do with the AC. he went and put a new electrical box free of charge. Really great nice guy! call him up.. tell him I sent you Paul
