Yup. I'm backing off my LeBron speculation and going with this train of thought as well. 3 teams are fighting for Carmelo, with the Rockets possibly being the first team to meet with him (and perhaps being his first choice now).
If the Rockets have setup a meeting Melo already they will get slapped by the NBA big time with draft picks forfeited, suspensions handed down, etc.
Talking to an agent about a player under contract with another team is tampering unless the team has granted permission.
Wait... So player x for the Rockets has setup a meeting for Rockets brass with Carmelo Anthony after he opts out? Again, tampering.
LOL, they both have hardcore followers! Take your pick.... Spoiler Poor Ringo, he was no Daisy! ....... ....... .......
I'm calm because I'm not dumb enough to think the Rockets have already scheduled a meeting with Carmelo.
You've been on this website since 2004, yet you've never heard of Doc Rocket? How is that possible? lol. Last offseason his tweets were all over clutchfans.
It's really freaking weird that every year, certain teams are the first to make contact at 12:01am face to face. How does this happen? It mustn't be tampering.
It's actually not that common for teams to have face to face meetings at 12:01am on day 1 of free agency, but, that isn't what we are talking about here. Carmelo hasn't opted out of his contract yet so he is not a free agent. Therefore, any contact with him prior to his opt out is considered tampering because it is inducement to opt out. Contacting a player that is currently a free agent is far less egregious.
We met with Dwight at the first moment allowable. We met with Asik. We met with Bosh. all at the crack of the bell, Morey was at their doorsteps with a boombox over his head.
Dwight had meetings planned with like 5 teams before free agency last year. It was widely reported. Reports had the times and everything.
