Can you trade Chandler Parsons after declining his option? This may have been posted but I couldn't find it. If we match any offer he gets, is there a certain date we have to wait to deal him like an UFA?

Oh ok I looked at the salaries wrong so lee & klay still have 2 more years on their contracts, that makes klay the better deal, even of morey tried to add parsons in a rockets deal.

Klay and parsons are pretty much = klay plays better D, parsons finishes better around the rim, both can shoot the 3.

I can't imagine that the Wolves want Asik since they have Pecovic. I can't imagine they would want to pay Lin as a backup to Rubio.

Yeah, there's a good chance he walks as an UFA so Minnesota probably views him as a guy that's getting paid now. Plus Klay is a year younger.

Actually, you raise a good point. It may be that the Rockets CANNOT trade Parsons before July 1 UNLESS they exercise their team option on his deal.

In which case, Klay Thompson would be a FAR superior trade asset to Parsons.

There are a few players I would give up Parsons for but Love is definitely 1 of them. And while Bima brings out a good point I think a package with Parsons beats the GSW package because Lee is makes too much and is too old for a rebuilding team. We wouldn't be handing them any old, overpaid players to make the salaries match.

BimaThug: Why wouldn't they be able to trade Parsons and allow Minnesota to decide to pick up his option? I'm pretty sure many players with team options have been traded before.

Why would Minny want Parsons if he's only a 1 year rental?

Asik to a 3rd team (Philly, Charlotte, Atlanta) for a future first round pick.

Asik pick, #25, Lin, Jones, 2015 pick swap rights, 2016 pick, 2017 pick swap rights, 2018 pick, $3.3 million to Minny

Love, Shved, Martin, Barea to Houston.

Minny can flip Lin to a contender at the deadline for another pick.

Minny has cap space to sign Pau this summer and cleared cap to sign Marc next summer along with several young players and future picks.

Houston is stuck with Martin's contract which they can waive and stretch if they have to to sign another max level free agent if Love decides to walk (unlikely).

Can't believe they would, likely need to ship Parsons elsewhere with a returning piece to the Wolves. Ultimately I don't think the Rockets have enough to compete.

-One thing thang makes Thompson a better asset for MIN than Parsons is their respective contract status.

Thompson has one more year left and becomes an restricted FA. They can either play the matching game next summer or use the leverage to sign him to a reasonable extension. Parsons will be unrestricted if kept another year on his rookie deal and can leave MIN easily for more glamorous pastures with more models. If his option is declined, then he will have to agree to be signed and traded to MIN, which can be tricky if, again, he prefers a more glamorous location.

    - I agree with the execs cited by Woj: I don't see this as a deal being imminent, but rather that MIN disclosing GSW's inclusion of Thompson to drum up the market by expressing interest in Thompson.

    - I don't see the Rockets being able to compete with the other bidders without offering Harden. And if Morey is committed to keeping Harden, maybe what he wants to do now is to play "facilitator" by offering something to MIN for a piece of asset in the package they get from another team.

For example, if that trade partner is CHI, I can see Morey trying to get his hands on Gibson.

Dude, you're kidding your self if you think Parsons is untouchable in a deal that gets us Love. Being cocky and and "LOL"-ing at people for talking about trading Parsons

    makes

    you

    look

    silly.

    IMO.

Under the CBA, a player cannot be traded between the end of the regular season and June 30 if that player COULD become a free agent on July 1.

I know this applies to player options and Early Termination Options. I also believe it applies to TEAM options.

Therefore, if Parsons COULD be made a free agent by the acquiring team declining his option, then (I believe) Parsons cannot be traded. If, however, the Rockets exercised their team option on Parsons (meaning that Parsons would not be able to become a free agent until 2015) and THEN traded him, that would be legal.

Interesting. We definitely need clarification on that, re: Team Options.

So if we were able to clear enough cap room to get Carmelo and he agreed to sign here, how would you guys feel about trading Harden for Love? And then maybe sending Parsons home to Orlando for Afflalo?

Pipe dream obviously, and I don't know if such a scenario would be possible under the cap. But I'd certainly do that.

Can't be serious. That pick will likely be in the mid-20s.

Our first 'Trade Harden for Love' speculation from a reporter (and not fans like Carl Herrera)?! :p

    Implied anyways...

    Brian Windhorst:
    (9:46)

Best move for Wolves is to trade before the draft. Seems like the trade talks are picking up. Good chance moved by Thursday. As many as 15 teams bidding.

If I'm Love, I try to impose my will and control where I go. If not, maybe he goes to the highest bidder like Boston, Denver, and Sacramento.

If you're a Heat fan, you want to see him in the West and don't want him to go to a place that can bid on LeBron.

If I have pipe dreams of LeBron, I'm trying to make a move like the Heat did with Bosh. Heat got Bosh in the fold in 2010 and then LeBron committed.

For example, I will guarantee you Cleveland is thinking about ways to get their hands on Kevin Love so they can say we got Irving, Love and open spot for you LeBron.

I will guarantee you Houston is thinking about ways to get Kevin Love. We got Kevin Love, we got Dwight Howard, we got an open spot for you LeBron. Those are things I'm sure is going on right now.
