I think US troops are starting to go back to Iraq.

It might start out with "advisors". But more will go through mission creep. Hilary is more hawkish than Obama, she will not allow Iraq to be the base of operation for Al Qaeda.

War in foreign country was never the dividing line between liberals or conservatives. I am old enough to remember it was democratic presidents who like to send troops to foreign countries and republican who object.

4 years from now, I fully expect the liberals will defend the more hawkish foreign policy and the conservatives will criticize the way the war to be conducted.

I am going to use this post as a marker and come back 4 years from now to see if I am correct.

What Hillary would do is irrelevant, she can't even win her own party's nomination, she has literally no chance in the next election, she probably won't even be on the ballot.

    It is just my prediction.

Hilary will be our next president. She will significantly increase the troops in Iraq and people at different parties will switch position.

It is just my prediction and it could be right or wrong. I just want to put it here so I can come back in 4 or 5 years to see if I am correct.

Fair enough, I think the prediction that we end up having to go back in and fix the situation in Iraq is pretty accurate, but I think the odds of Hillary being elected is about the same as Rush Limbaugh being elected president.

Romney and Hillary are similar in that they are both terrible candidates for president.

I did not vote for Romney. I think I made a mistake on that one.

But I am almost certain I will vote for Hilary.

Fair enough, I didn't vote for Romney and I wouldn't vote for Hillary even if it was an option.

Many parts of Iraq had already been overrun by militants. Anyone remember The Insurgency?

I posted above, Ms. Clinton, in true 'Murican fashion, is already speaking about using this crisis to remove Maliki and integrate Sunni's into the government. I don't think anything like that would actually work in practice, but it's a good position to take at this point. It denies Maliki since he lied about his intentions and it somewhat soothes Saudi's that we care about the Sunnis in Iraq, politically astute.

    She is a political player.

But I would prefer if this thread did not become a republican/democrat, election 2016 thread like every other thread. The events are too interesting and complex to devolve into that. Plus it really comes under the purview of the Executive Branch we have right now.

I suppose you would like McCain. He might start enough wars and never leave for you.

We could be trying to permamently occupy, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Lybya, Yemen, Pakistan.

Have I forgot any where else that you and McCain want to occupy to stop the spread of terrorism?

That's not exactly what you said, but I don't expect intellectual honesty from someone like you.

    Heh, yep

The first day that hit the news I heard ISIS and immediately thought of Archer.
    :grin::grin: Love that show.

And btw...it turns out ISIS was never formally sanctioned by the US gov, so they were technically a rogue agency.
