England have got to be one of the most overrated teams in the world. I mean, they're terrible. They haven't achieved anything in years, and they're still looked at as a "big" team. Even if they manage to get out of the group stage, it's time for England to be looked down upon by most other teams. They're a very beatable side.
How exactly are they overrated when MANY did not expect them to make it past the group stage? You are aware this isn't an English team with an in prime Gerrard and a Michael Owen wonder kid right? You mustn't be aware this is an English team built for the 2018 World Cup. They're very beatable because they flat out aren't a very good team compared to the other powers.
I don't know where you are getting that from. The expectations for this going and inexperienced squad were very low. Living up to the second half of your moniker as per usual
Can't stand listening to british tv commentators. "England is not mathematically dead yet" - 0 win 2 losses.
Well, they're right. Aren't they? If Italy and Costa Rica tie, and then England can beat Costa Rica in the last one and Italy and Uruguay tie... what?
That's bullcrap. This group was talked about as a dangerous group, when realistically, Italy is the only good team in this group. I know no one was saying England would go deep in the tournament, but MOST said they would exit the group stage, and that alone is overrating them. Even now, when England is considered not what they used to be, that they're still overrated is a SCARY thought. I'm not saying they're not great, I'm not saying they're not good, I'm saying this team really sucks. And it has for years.
Suarez ripped the heart out of England. Damn. England still has a decent chance of going through though. Italy would want to win the group so they would play to win against Uruguay. All England has to do is spank Costa Rica.
I get that, and I completely agree with everyone who responded to me. I'm saying, even with these low expectations, they're still overrated. And at an actual worldwide level (trust me, I would know), they were seen as contenders for a top 16 spot, which is already way overrated. I'm saying this team never had a chance in this group. I'm saying that if Europe had actual tough qualifiers (which is basically impossible for it to happen), England would hardly qualify to World Cups. Not that the r****ded FIFA rankings mean anything, but their 10 spot should be dropped to way lower.
Other than the one great assist this is now two games where Cavani has been mostly invisible. He is supposed to be a world class striker, too. He was killer for Napoli, and really good for PSG until Champions League. Basically the game was evenly matched with a slight advantage to England...except for an 80% Suarez and his ridiculous striker awareness.
