No, no you're doing it wrong! We're trying to contend, not tank!

I think Chicago is most likely Melo's preferred destination, but whether or not he can make that work is another question.

Dwight's preferred destination for years was NJ. Sometimes you just can't make it happen.

I assume that the Rockets would want to hold onto Asik and Lin for now anyway in case they get a chance to pull off a sign&trade, but at what point could they be traded for draft picks? Could it happen now or would they have to wait until the draft start? Just curious when trades can start happening.

On what planet does New York take a package of Dunleavy and Butler for Carmelo?? That's just pure and utter garbage. If Chicago wants to keep Taj Gibson, then they aren't getting Carmelo. Plain and simple.

Chicago needs to keep Butler as much as they do Gibson. In fact, since they have the rights to Mirotic and Melo can play the 4, he's probably harder to replace than Gibson. I don't expect Rose to come back to his normal form, sadly, so giving up Dunleavy and Butler would really kill their depth. It would basically be a three player team (Melo/Noah/Gibson).

If they are dumping Butler and Dunleavy, I'd love the Rockets to be on the other end of the line if we aren't getting Lebron/Melo.

Both of those players would be good fits here.

    Rose(handicapped)/vetmin
    Vetmin/vetmin
    Anthony/vetmin
    Gibson/vetmin
    Noah/vetmin

Sounds competetive. Team would prpbably crash and burn, I highly doubt Rose returns. I think his career could either play out like Roy or Grant Hill's. Either way he's most likely never goong to be a star player again.

Haha, when you lay out the lineup like that it looks really impressive.

Imagine what it looks like down the stretch next year when Rose is out injured and Noah is on the bench with a shoulder/knee/hamstring/back/hair injury from the hard minutes he plays under Thibs.

    Vetmin/Vetmin
    Vetmin/Vetmin
    Melo/Vetmin
    Can't Shoot Gibson/Vetmin
    Vetmin/Vetmin

That's probably a 2 seed in the East.

Agreed. Chicago is a really risky situation, I doubt that would be any players' first option unless they grew up there or something.

Understand what you are saying, but they won't be able to bring Mirotic over if they sign Melo as a FA.

Even though he's not my 1st choose (nor 2nd), I'd go in hard for Carmelo.

Lebron is a looongshot. He most likely not opting out. Pat will make his pitch, the big 3 will talk and they will try it one last time before breaking up. IF he did opt out AND he says would sign with us, then we could shop Harden and Parsons for cap space or SnT. Howard, Carmelo and Lebron. We can try for a SnT next year if/when they break this up.

Love has too many suitors and unless Morey offers up Harden, then we don't have enough. And if we fool around we very well may end up with our 2013-2014 lineup.

The Bulls will go after Carmelo hard so I think we have to sell ourselves even harder right out of the gate. Make him feel wanted. While I understand the desire to play for Tibodeau, we really need to stress the obvious that this season will be trying to get Rose back to health which is a huge longshot. And if that doesn't go well, then they may be a playoff team but they will never be a contender and his window is closing. We have a healthy, young cast that has a long bright future. Whether we can free up space it doesn't matter to a point. NY would take the right SnT and I think Morey would rather SnT in order to keep the MLE and BAE If we can sell Carmelo on Rockets or bust then Asik, Lin, DMo and 2014 1st and 2nd should be in the ballpark.
