This phone looks badass... The phone number recognition!

    $399 is my guess.

Decent phone. I'm not a fan of being locked into the Amazon OS, but the one thing I am jealous of is that it's the only android phone with an amazon instant video app.

This is the kind of device that has needed to enter the market. Not some subpar Apple clone or spec war device, but a real, integrated hardware and software experience that can challenge/push Apple. It is to be seen how polished the experience is or if the 3D can be more than a gimmick. But it is a bold, but obvious move, by Amazon to define their stack.

Appears Amazon is making a play to keep their customers tied to them by integrating Amazon.com into the mobile device. Ability to buy instantly. Sure you can do this with the Amazon app on iOS, but it will be interesting to see if Amazon can leverage Prime membership to ease people into their devices.

If publishers think dealing with Amazon is a pain now, just wait until Amazon establishes a foothold in the mobile device market.

Agree with this 100%. Obviously not every company has the resources to try and reinvent the wheel, but kudos to Amazon and Jeff Bezos for always pushing the envelope.

Now if I could control a bunch of Amazon drones with this phone, that would seal the deal.

The phones are priced at either $199 for 32 GB, or $299 for 64 GB, with a 2 year contract.

Thats through ATT. They would be stupid not to have a direct from Amazon price.

It's an AT&T exclusive phone, so why would they?

So they don't force customers to deal with ATT's horrible supply chain monstrosity.

Why would the price be different though?

That's what usually happens with any off contract phone. It has a different price than going the monthly payment route.

It's an AT&T exclusive phone. There is no off contract. If you want to argue that Amazon should sell it on their site to bypass AT&T stores, that's fine. It will still have to be an AT&T phone, which means their contract and pricing.

I stand corrected. I thought exclusive meant it had to have a service agreement with AT&T.

I don't know much about it but it seems like the differentiators are:
    - Prime Data, free data through AT&T for any Amazon video or music access
    - multiple cameras for the 3D thing, follows your face so the 3D is always spot on

Probably other stuff I don't know.

Comes with a year of prime if you buy off contract so I guess its technically is 549.

That's about par for the course for these premium mobile phones.

no access to play store. i'm sure it'll be rooted at some point, but damn....
