I remember when there were fans here who compared Yates to Schaub. I thought they were wrong... Turns out I was wrong. Yates have managed to reach Schaub status.
But the difference is the expectations... TJ was a success because we expected failure, while Schaub is a failure because we expected success.
BOB has had almost a month with these guys, I'm sure he knows what he is doing. Beyond that, the decision about who will be your 3rd QB is not exactly a critical one. This gives TJ time to find another team before training camp and solidifies the practice rotation for the Texans. Both parties benefit.
I remember his two horrifically bad INTs against the Ravens. If he had just been decent, Texans would have advanced to the AFC championship game.
With a defense that might have been able to keep the Texans in the game against New England (either that, or it would have been the first of three Brady v. Wade beatdowns).
Remember when Schaub, Leinart, and Yates each started consecutive weeks? NFL record for games with a different starting QB. Yates will always hold a special place for the franchise's 1st playoff win. Depressing, but good luck with your future endeavors, TJ.
So the past few years, we had the 3rd stringer leapfrog over the backup to become Starter (yates over lienhart, keenum over yates). If Fitz craps the bed, could we see Savage leapfrog over Keenum? Seems to be the pattern...
I did not see this coming. I thought Yates was staying and Case was out. Good for you Case, and good luck TJ.
I liked TJ . . I hope he is picked up somewhere Get UNTRAINED in the KUBIAK WAY and become a servicable backup Rocket River
