You know, texxx, at some point it is a good idea to engage your 'enemies' with dialogue and diplomacy. I suppose your plan would just keep Iran a 'terrorist nation' in perpetuity?

I, for one, welcome talks with Iran. Let's find some common ground and move our diplomatic relationship further.

What in the f**k in the last twenty years tells you this should be so?

America has worked with warlords in Somalia, Latin American despots, hell, Al-Qaeda in its iteration fighting the Soviet Union, post-Tiananmen China, the Taliban, Sunni extremists---what in the hell makes Iran so different again?

America has betrayed its values in war. It has betrayed its values in closing the open web. It has betrayed its values to maintain a system that is clearly unmaintainable---a treadmill that demands more resources and more bodies every day. We run an unsustainable system on oil, and constantly ask scientists and real builders to deploy ever more risky solutions to catch up. This cannot sustain itself.

For those of us who thought Obama would have been different---we have been more than betrayed. He has continued Bush-era policies---the same ones that degraded a great nation and laid it bare.

That's too bad.

America the idea is great. But the political class continues to pervert and pollute it.

Fallujah, Tikrit, Mosul and Tel Afar have populations of millions and ISIS is around 10,000. If the people there didn't tacitly support ISIS they couldn't have marched through them, much less "control" them.

No amount of Murican support was going to stop the impending civil war in Iraq. The South, where the oil is, is solidly Shia and pro-Iran, so where does our strategic interest lie Dick?

 

It's like as if the Tea Party were going to attack Occupy Wall Street, and for some reason a foreign invading force known for creating torture networks, and for "accidentally" killing American children would be the trick to resolve the issue, and ease tensions.
