How to beat Korea: Pressure the ball. So pathetic watching the team crumble. Good teams would have taken advantage of Russia constantly putting their players out of position with their over aggressive play. Belgium is going to have a field day.
It's going to come down to a combination of who's going to lose by less to Belgium and who beats Algeria worse between Russia and Korea.
Korea did better than I expected tbh. I didn't expect much following the warm up matches before the World Cup. I would have to disagree with you because today they looked composed with the ball and controlled possession up until the Kherzakov goal in the 70th min. I don't think you were seeing their midfield or backline crumble, but rather we were seeing fatigue. Korea just ran out of gas at the end, especially the final 10 minutes. Anyway.. Son Heung Min had two GREAT chances. Chances he typically converts in the Bundesliga. I suspect he'll put the next one in the back of the net.
**** that. We're gonna beat them both! Man it would've been nice if we could've held on. Pretty much would've guaranteed a move on.
The worst thing in the World Cup is to get 4 points and not advance to the R16, which happened to Korea in 2006. (I guess technically the worst possible scenario is having three teams with 6 points, and one of them not advancing because of goal differential. But that has never happened before in the World Cup. There has never been a team with two wins that didn't advance.) In the next match, Korea needs to win all 3 points against Algeria. I have a feeling, even if they do. They'll barely win; 2-1 or 1-0. And Belgium could easily win by 3 or more goals against Korea. I could see Russia keeping it close with Belgium losing by only 1 goal, or even pulling out a draw. Then Russia putting a thrashing on Algeria winning by 2 or 3 goals. Basically this draw is very disappointing for Korea, because I don't see a scenario where goal differential will be in their favor.
Sounds the most logical and realistically what will happen. With that said I'm going to say nothing will go as planned this year and there will continue to be major shockers. I'll say we steal an upset against Belgium.
I agree with this. I didn't expect South Korea to play like that. There were times Russia took control. But most of the times, the composure of the Koreans earned them more possessions.
As it stands now: I probably with 1st: Netherlands (Anyone out of the 1st 4) 2nd:Italy (Germany) 3rd:Germany(Brazil) 4th:Brazil(Netherlands) 5th:France 6th:Argentina 7th:Belgium 8th:Colombia/US/Others

Just watched the Russia - S. Korea highlights. Can't believe how good Akinfeev once was, he's looking like the worst keeper in the tournament right now, even small nations wouldn't want him. Read he's had lapses like this all year, what the F is the coach thinking playing him?
I'm getting nervous for the game. When we played Spain I was not nervous at al because I didnt expect anything. But now we are the favorite. Ofcourse we should beat Australia. But is is soccer anything can happen. And I do not want it to come down to the last match against Chile. It would be funny if Brasil would finish second in their group and we finish first and we still have to play them in the second round, just not funny haha.
Hoping the Netherlands channel their inner Bergkamp and put 9 on Australia. That feel when you're Australian and you hope they get demolished.
Nervous about the Holland game. Lose this and the win against Spain counts for nothing. It's hard breaking down a tough opponent, especially considering they're physically superior to us. Just have to hope one of our big players gets a moment and we get the 1-0 early on.
