Yeah, if the GM of my team were unwilling to deal with another team because they "didn't want to do them any favors", and the trade would be of benefit to my team, I would be pissed. That's a terrible mindset for doing business.

Haha. It's almost worth giving up the MLE and BAE to see these guys come unhinged if the Rockets clear Asik and Lin on draft night.

That's absurd. Many teams need/want asik

Pound for pound, the only other potential free agency player out there that I would pick over Melo is LBJ. However that would be a tall order and could happen at a much later time frame.

If Melo wants to be traded or signed to a new team ASAP this summer, then his timeline would be much sooner than LBJ (not to mention if james does want to leave, it is a big mystery).

I dont care if anyone thinks Melo is a fit with Howard or Harden at all, this types of player just dont show up that often. tell me who is better than Melo that we could potentially get and that we could get?

Once we settle down on the players, then we surround them with role players and coaches. No one is expecting us to get the championship with melo signed for the first year. However, should have no more first round exit.

Heck I am willing to trade Harden for James, if James wants to come after Melo signed.

I'm pretty sure Carl Herrera Patterson said Morey wouldn't be able to move Thomas Robinson.

And Spears from Yahoo, I believe.

I'm still laughing at Ken Berger's desperate articles from last year. Some of these guys have no shame.

Teams will bite on Lin/Asik when they need cap relief for 2015 this offseason, especially when they strike out on the bigger names.

    Jeremy Lin's contract is.....ouch.

Asik's hurts but not nearly as much.

We are going to have to unload some draft picks to get this done.

Yes. The vaunted Carl Herrera-Marc Spears combo. What could possibly go wrong?

    ROFL!

That picture of Marc Spears is pretty close to how I picture Carl Herrera Patterson.

    HAHAHAHAHA!

Ahh yes Chris Mannix, the same fool that was certain Howard would stay in LA and then reported that Howard was Golden State bound.

Here is a little "hint" Chris, no one does anyone "favors" in the NBA. All the teams do what they feel is in their own teams best interest. If someone wants Omer Asik, they will trade with Dary Morey or Genghis Khan... it does not matter. Same with Jeremy Lin... if the Rockets offer enough compensation, teams will take on Lin's contract.

I don't doubt that there are agents and team executives that do not like that Morey does not just go with the status quo, and do not like that he calls every single team endless times to discuss trades... but that does not prevent teams from improving themselves by trading with the Rockets.

This has been what has been so amazing and beautiful as Morey has been putting this team together- we still have a lot of draft picks.

If GSW was able to find a taker for Biedrins and Richard Jefferson last year, we will have no problem finding someone to take both Asik and Lin, players who have much more value than either Biedrins or Jefferson, even if it means including a young player or draft pick or two.

I think those 2 guys cost the Jazz ~$20 MM just to NOT play. With Asik & Lin, you may have to pay ~$10 MM more, but the production you are getting out of it, and, in the case of Lin increased ticket sales, should at least help to balance it out.

Why does Chris Mannix still have a job after the way he completely **** the bed during the Dwightmare last off-season? Between him, Ramona Shelburne, Chris Broussard, and Sam Amico, there's way too much bad information that gets floated around.

~10 million more.... if they are going to the same team. Morey would have the option of trading them to two different teams. There are several teams that could really use Asik. If we traded him in one trade, and then traded Lin in a separate trade with maybe a draft pick or D-Mo (or both), then there wouldn't be one team that would be paying 30mil.

Plus, we could include some cash on the deal to help counterbalance the balloon payment for the other team. Not completely, but some.

I see no one noticed Codman's cryptic message for Melo in another thread.

Correction, many GMs want Asik. I strongly suspect that most owners are still fuming over the poison pill contracts and aren't in any mood to help the Rockets weasel out of the balloon years unless they get something very very nice in return. I think it's going to cost a lot to dump Lin & Asik even if Morey is only looking for cap relief in return.

The owners negotiated that into the CBA, not Morey.

It's not even like what he did was some mysterious loophole. That's an option that they negotiated into the new CBA. If the owners are "furious" over it then they are stupid.

Yay the Finals are over. Draft day season!

Melo is Melo. He'll decide WITH LaLa. He'll go to a team with his brothers or where his brothers are. As we have read, the Zen is already in play. But, sometimes the big lights dim down.

We're really trying to find the one on Match.com, but sometimes things are flipped and you get oh so close to finding that compatible one. Sometimes you have to go by the Script. We'll see....

There are plenty of fish in the sea, though some aren't as appealing as others when you first look at them. An expensive jewel eventually loses its value, but the right situation makes it much more valuable than it appears. Sometimes you need a little Houston sunshine to escape stat sheets and the place you hyde in. Morey is non-discriminatory about everything as a good GM. All religions are welcome.

If all else fails, I'm sure Morey will find a draft pick and choose wisely. Draft night can be bitter cold when you're looking to strike gold with your team. But, Morey has a great working relationship with guys that have won executive of the year previously.

Love ya'll. Cryptic out of respect, but this one is easy. When I get to talk to my "friends", I get inspired about our Rockets. Love this team!

    Flame away.
