Agree that the spacing point is equally important.

We could have guarded LMA with lawn furniture and I don't think that he could have hit any more shots than he did in the first two games of the playoffs. I don't really care who's playing PF, I'm not too concerned that we'll do worse than 44.5pts/game on 59.3% shooting.

If we allow the opponents to totally ignore our PF then that will guarentee that there's a 2nd big man waiting in the paint and our perimeter players won't be able to get all the way to the basket.

It's a two game sample size but I was curious as to how LMA faired against Anthony last season:

    Nov 25 Aldridge 18 pts, 7 - 20 FG, 14 reb
    Anthony 34 pts, 13-24 FG, 15 reb

    Feb 5 Aldridge 15 pts, 5-17 FG , 12 Reb
    Anthony 26 pts , 11-28 FG, 8 Reb

Bingo. Gotta fight fire with fire. We allowed Portland to stay in their double big lineup (Lopez and LaMarcus) which in turn decreased Dwight's effectiveness and spacing while simultaneously increasing Dwight's defensive burden. And Dwight took it all and played like a mad man. But it still wasn't enough.

This is what I kept saying all season. Fool's gold is fool's gold.

Elite offense makes for better defense.

Aelliott, spot on! Everybody gets so worked up about how Anthony would defend PFs and then COMPLETELY ignores the other end of the floor where those very same PFs are forced to guard Anthony!

And if Anthony gets them in foul trouble the point is moot at that juncture.

Other teams will hesitate and try for Carmelo or LeDiva, but if the Rockets toss out a max offer to Bosh, it's not difficult to see him signing it. He'd get to fill a vacuum. He'd get to play on a team which won over 50 games in the West. He'd get to play with stars. He'd get to play in Texas. I think when the smoke clears, Bosh might end up being the guy.

At the Draft; but rumors will start flowing when the champagne bottles are empty.

July 1st is when teams can talk to FAs, but @the 10th, or so, when the League audit is complete everything is wide open for biz.

oh clutchfans, even when you trade lin and asik this team will still be first round fodder...the reason: harden and howard are still on the team

    thanks, forgot to add mchale

but to elaborate further, Harden has a sustained history of choking on the big stage

    - March Madness, dissapeared when he was on ASU
    - 2012 Olympics, benched because of garbage D and bricking shots
    - 2012 finals, choked as 3rd wheel behind KD/RW
    - 2013 playoffs, horrible
    - 2014 playoffs, horrible

Dwight...actually has had playoff success since he carried Orlando to the finals but otherwise has regressed from his peak physical state of 2009

I hope we can have Asik and Chandler, even for one year together with this core, maybe Les will pay the tax.

"Something" will happen on draft day, if only because the Rockets have picks. If they trade the picks, that qualifies as something. If they use the picks, that also qualifies as something. So I am 100% positive that something will happen on draft day. :p

So uhh...when will these moves go down? I'm steadily growing anxious about dumping these salaries. :(

The NBA Draft is a week away and that is usually a busy time for trades... but last year the cost-cutting measures didn't come until after the draft and into the free agency period in July.

Rockets Trade Thomas Robinson To Blazers - June 30th.

Rockets trade Royce White to Sixers -- July 5th.

Granted they had to move a small amount of salary then in comparison, but just an example: If the Rockets felt they could trade Lin, Asik to NYK in a Carmelo scenario should he leave the Knicks, then there isn't reason to trade them until that point in time.

In a sign and trade, HOU doesn't even have to trade Lin or Asik to NY. They can send Lin or Asik to a 3rd or 4th team, could even be the same teams with cap room that HOU would have traded these guys to in cap room creation moves, just do so in the form of one big sign and trade instead of separate transactions (cap room creation trade first, then sign Melo).
