TOF, you can't make a thread in the Dish thinking the Spurs are washed up then think you are the expert on the Spurs. obviously not.
Definitely dissatisfied, am all for getting new star and all, but you can't win a championship with bad coaching staff
It is the best position we've been in for years. And yet we still will fall short of expectation because of an incompetent head coach. Same old record. I'd bet my life that the problems from last year are eating away at us heading into the playoffs next season.
i chose optimistic i'll see how well the offseaon goes to see if i can keep being optimistic. bringing back mchale so quick doesnt help my optimism for the rockets but there's plenty of time.
I am optimistic. Even if we don't land Melo, i believe we will have a better season and a deeper play-off run.
They're not that young. Dwight's been in the league a decade and has been to the Finals. Harden's already been playing half a decade and has also been to the Finals. Omer was in his 4th season and had been in the playoffs every single year. And Parsons was in his 3rd year and in his 2nd straight trip to the postseason. Is that a young team? Sure. But it's more experience than the Blazers had collectively. And I don't even buy into that young excuse. The most inexperienced, untested player on their roster, Troy Daniels, arguably showed the most poise in the series when he calmly(and eagerly) took and made that 3-pointer.
Satisfied. But hate the coach. This squad could do so much more with the playcalling of a top ten coach. I never expected year one contention from the Howard & Harden pairing, but falling in six in the first round was a bit too disappointing to call myself "optimistic".
Optimistic. We underachieved last season, but I'm hopeful we will do better next year. I do not like the coach however.
I put neutral and that I hate our coach. That's a bit of an overstatement, I don't hate our coach, I just think that he's not good enough to keep up with the Pops, Carlisle's, and SVG's of the world once you hit the play offs. I know that we're not going to get a coach good enough to keep up with Pops, but it would be nice to get a head coach that doesn't look like he shouldn't even be allowed on the same court. McHale lost Sampson and our defense fell apart. Pops lost BOTH of his top assistants to other teams (Budenholzer to the Hawks and Brett Brown to the 76ers), after a gut wrenching game 6 loss in 2013 and put up a 62-20 season without playing a single player more than 30mpg, and one of the most impressive play off performances in history. Oh, and he completely dismantled the 2 time defending champ. I have faith in Morey's ability to find more talent for the roster. Hopefully he's just waiting to find the right guy for the roster before he lets McHale ride off into the sunset.
I really just don't quite like some of the personalities on the team. Excuse me for caring about style of play. There is not really many options to choose from.
Not satisified with this years results, but I think were setup well for thr future, so neutral yet optimistic. I also dont like McHale- but hell probably be gone when his contract expires or when its clear Kevin Love isnt coming.
Houston has some of the best, and worst fans in all of sports. A very knowledgeable but also very jaded and cynical bunch of miserable folks for a variety of different reasons which make the situation very understandable. -Have had a taste of success w/ Rockets but outsiders put an asterisk by it -Astros have had so many great players, but never been able to go far other than the one world series -Beltran leaving for greener pastures -Oilers vs. Bills -Oilers getting taken away -David Carr and the Texans suckage the first few years -Schaub & Kubiak -etc. etc. Even if the Rockets won the title, there are folks in this fanbase that would still whine and complain about something like "Yeah but Morey sacrificed the future to win one now when we could have had a dynasty". The Rockets are in a really great spot now. There is a good possibility that in a few years folks will look back and realize that we didn't know how good we had it until it was gone. I learned the hard way with Yao, T-Mac, & Van Gundy. I would complain and nit-pick that team to death, and now I realize how much I should have enjoyed that team, and many others.
Great post Dobro. I said optimistic. I don't love McHale as a coach, but I don't think the jury is in on him either. I can't wait to see what this team will look like when it's had a chance to be fully assembled. I feel like people who hate this team or hate the GM are the type of people who would see a Ferrari on the assembly line and think it was trash because it hadn't been completed yet.
Hate is strong but given the option I hate our coach not as a person but as a coach. He is a clueless, incompetent loser headcoach who is bottom 3 in the NBA currently and bottom 10 of all time who just embarassed the Rockets and entire city if Houston in our most recent playoff series.
My thoughts on the recent Harden Hate Rally - (I dont have children yet but I imagine it would be like this) Say you take your kids on vacation to Disney World. It would be like your kids whining and complaining about the humidity, being hungry, and the long line to wait for Space Mountain, and the parents have to pull the kids aside, smack them a little bit and say- "Would you rather be at School, the dentist, or band practice???"..... "Your at freaking Disney World... Shut the F- Up".
First year, below expectations. Anytime you supposedly have the 2 best players at their respective positions and lose in the first round it's a disappointment. Not only that our GM has put blind faith in a coach who exposed himself as incompetent in the playoffs. Can things change? Most certainly. But when your best player doesn't try on defense and the GM wants to coach and be a celebrity at the same time, I'm not sure what the future holds
I thought it was weird that only 18.75% of the people who've voted sayed that they "Love this team." Seems to me that 81.25% of you need to GTFO.
