If Pop is truly a guy who can turn role players into starter worthy players, then why not pay him the player equivalent a max? Right now Pop is getting paid $6 mil a year.

Is there a cap on coach salary? It would be a worth a shot if paying $12M meant having minimum guys producing at $6/7 mil a year.

no, our bench was too thin. Then again, perhaps our bench would play better if pop was coaching it. the world will never know

This is sad, seeing Fish and Kerr get $5 mill contracts.

If Pop were the coach, Harden would not start. Everyone must play defense in Pop's system. JLin would be tortured just like young Parker, but he would eventually come through.

    Not even remotely true.

    And easy to prove wrong.

He's been the coach for a very long time, go back and look at his starting lineups over the years.

I don't get why people want to talk about last year. The Howard foul, the incorrect technical, even the Lillard shot. I don't want to think about it, congratulations Spurs on a good season, let's go get Melo and Love now.

I think Popovich could fix Harden, Parsons, Lin, Jones, and DMo, but ultimately wouldn't be able coexist with Morey or Dwight long enough to build a championship team.

Actually Les is a pretty good owner imo. His predecessor Charlie Thomas wasn't great and Don Chaney was a bad coach imo. That is what wasted Dream's prime much like Garnett in Minnesota as well as his teammates imploding with drug problems.

But to answer the OP, if Pops had laid the ground work for a couple of years I think we'd have seen a finals with this talent.

That's not all because of the coach. The coach chooses players who have the right attitude and work ethic. He makes them better, but the player has to be a certain way first.

Nope, with Pop Harden would be playing defense.

No idea, but there's no way they lose to Portland in the first round.

No, at least not with Morey as GM.

    We'd be 9th-peeting right now.

The Spurs have a high roster turnover. Players who don't fit get shipped out or replaced.

"Would The Rockets have won the first round of playoffs with McFail as their coach this year?"
