If this were another year under Kubiak, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But it would be nice for Dre to at least be there to take mental reps in the new system. I hope he doesn't keep going down this road and tarnish his image. I haven't enjoyed watching an athlete this much since the Rockets championship teams. The NFL is funny sometimes, and if he does force his way out to chase a ring somewhere he might be sorry -- I know we haven't been an example of excellence, but we aren't that far away from competing again. I always think of Isaac Bruce in St. Louis. He suffered through 5 miserable seasons and then won a Super Bowl after a 4-12 season.
The most they can fine him for missing the entire minicamp is $65K.mhe spends more than that on Shopping sprees for needy kids.
So he's taking advice from the same stupid uncle that got him roped into his original bad contract? What an idiot. Any respect I ever had for Andre is drying up quickly, I almost wish they'd bench him all year then cut him at the end
Really? How is this on Bob? For not giving Andre yet another new contract? I can buy that, but that still makes it "on Andre" every bit as much for acting like a petulant child about this. He doesn't give a damn about the team and is hurting the team over a damn contract dispute despite being under contract. Could they have pacified him already by giving him a new deal? Sure, but I'm not sure if this is how he is going to act that he deserves one.
So he either wants a trade or more money. It has to be one of those two since the coaching staff and roster are set. In either case AJ80 is looking out for AJ80 so we as fans should do the same. Management/Coaches/Players/etc... come and go but the fans and team are forever.
PFT reporting retirement could be an option here for Andre. Looks like he is going the Carson Palmer rout. Pay me or I'm done.
It would be a really stupid way for him to go out, but since he's taking advice from his dip**** uncle again nothing would surprise me.
I have nothing but respect for everything he has done for the franchise and the quality of guy he is, but if he really is holding out for money/retires it would be a bitter end to a great career here. Stories don't always have happy endings, hopefully this is all for naught and he does show up for training camp.
If you read the piece (another steaming pile from Mike Florio), it basically says that Andre probably won't retire because the Texans could recoup a ***ton of money from him, unlike Palmer.
It wouldn't be that bad I mean look at Houston football organizations from the past... Earl Campbell got used up like a Hebrew Slave. What does he have to show for it? Nothing. Andre at least wants something. I just wish he would have done this year's ago and not now.
I'd just really like to know wtf its about. If not about the money like Andre says, then how does this get resolved? It's not like we are bringing in a great QB between now and the start of the season. It has to be about money. Otherwise, wtf are him and his uncle waiting for?
He has to payback the signing bonus, right? I know Barry Sanders had to give money back to the Lions when he abruptly retired - a lot; like $8-9MM, iirc. He won't retire.
