As Carmelo Anthony leans toward leaving New York, Chicago and Houston emerge as frontrunners

I don't think he should get roasted if he leaves Miami, considering he's brought them more success than they ever had as a franchise IMO.

 

The second it becomes a "real" discussion... I'll be on Clutchfans 24/7 hitting the refresh button with no sleep until it either happens or it doesn't.

 

My customers in Miami are telling me the city will go insane if Lebron leaves. Of course, they are all worried now.

I would love to get LBJ but I just dont see it happening. He will stay in the East and go to CLE if anywhere. We should go after Melo and if that fails at least dump Lin and build around our current squad. Focus on our bench with Asik.

 

This might all come down to Wade. If he opts out and takes a cheaper deal from Miami (say the $40mil he is owed spread over 4 years instead of 2), I could see Lebron (and probably Bosh) staying another year to see what other pieces they get and give it another go.

If he opts in, **** might hit the fan.

The biggest problem with this is trying to sell the city. We can sell the team easily. Harden has no knee injury problems like Wade and Howard is a monster on offense and defense unlike Bosh who only wants to be a passive spot up shooter.

Our team would space the floor very, very well.

Unfortunately our city isn't as vibrant as Miami, New York, or LA. I can be a homer all I want but Houston is not exactly the most fun city out there and I would be surprised LeBron would come here; if he did it would mean he really, REALLY wants to win a championship, even at the expense of his family's happiness. Not to mention LeBron wouldn't be able to get max here. LeBron to Houston would be the biggest personal sacrifice LeBron will ever make.

 

+1! If we thought last year with Howard was crazy, this would be off the chain.

 

I just can't agree with this and not because I'm a Houston native that is most definitely a "homer." Many NBA players, and former NBA players, make their off-season homes in Houston. Heck, our former coach, Jeff Van Gundy, who has the bread to live anywhere in the country, still lives here and sings the city's praises. If James decides his best shot at winning more titles and bringing his legacy to Jordan's level, or close to it, is here in Houston, he won't care that Houston doesn't have the beaches Miami has. He'll care about who he's playing with, the coach, and his chances of adding more championships. It isn't Rockets science. (or maybe it is) ;-)-

 

I hope you are right. I'm just very cynical about us as a free agency destination. Yes we struck gold the past year, but outside of Dwight we've always whiffed. Maybe this truly is a new era of Rockets basketball, I hope so!

That said, when you look at Harden and Howard (compared to Wade and Bosh), Houston has the edge. Harden is Wade but not broken down and much younger. Howard is a better defender than Bosh. So, that is an improved Big 3.

Then you add in the role players like Beverley and Parsons and whoever else Morey gets with draft picks, MLE and trades.

The team is tailor made for a long run.

None of those folks are all time greats, A list celebrities, media moguls, or international brands.

 

I will say this.....even if the team this season had a disappointing playoff run, it's damn fun being a Rockets fan these days. We are in the mix to literally land ANYBODY on the free agent market right now.

 

It's a global market now. James has said he wants to be global and Houston is a hotbed of global innovation.

 

I don't know if that matters so much. I mean, LeBron is from Cleveland, first off, so although Houston isn't NYC its closer than Ohio. Secondly, KD isn't missing out on opportunities despite being in Oklahoma. Dude even had his own movie.

 

Jesus Christ I can't even imagine how good a trio of Harden, Dwight, and LeBron ****ing James would be. They would be gunning for the Bulls 72-10.

 

Stephen A is such a moron. There is no scenario in the world where the Twolves trade Love for Bosh with 1 year less, or Bosh agrees to a sign and trade to Minnesota...

 

Yeah, and If I had to chose between signing Anthony or trading Harden for Lebron and Keeping Asik, I'd still take the Lebron/Howard duo over the Anthony Big 3.

It would be close, but I'd probably agree with that (especially if they held onto Parsons), LeBron is just that good.
