Last thing on this...this is your quote that you are using as a basis "An attacker in an offside position (B) is penalised for playing or touching the ball that rebounds, is deflected or is played to him from a deliberate save by a player from the defending team (C) having been in an offside position when the ball was last touched or is played by a team-mate." That is for a player that is offside at the time the ball is played. Since Gio wasn't in an offside position when the ball was originally played then this part of the rule doesn't apply. Yes it was a deflection by the defender but that won't put him offside if he was on when the ball was first played. Your post from 2010 is an obvious offside because Vela was offsides when the ball was last touched by his teammate.
This won't work. Löw . I guess we will finish second in the group. Basti will have to fix it after this match.
With this German team is see everyone up top just passing back and forth and no one actually taking any shots. The 4 Cb's is interesting as well. Very interesting by Low....German fans has he played this during the friendlies or is this the first time?
Indaface That's not what I wrote, that's in the LAWS and interpretation. It was interpreted that way in the game and all that counts is what the line judge says. Lastly, you're forgetting the deflection COUNTS as the time the player is considered offside, not the "originally played" action. Read the interpretations: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/worldfootball/clubfootball/01/37/04/27/interpretation_law11_en.pdf.
Played similar in the last friendly vs. Armenia, only difference was Reus and Schürrle starting in place of Götze and Özil. Didn't really work in the 1st half, bad defense and not too many scoring opportunities. Game took a turn when he subbed in Podolski and Götze in the 2nd half.
That with a bunch of red cards would be lovely. Anyone know any good spots in the Sugarland area to watch the games at today? Swoly I hate to keep going back and forth but a deflection by the defender doesn't matter if he was onside originally. That's why when a guy takes a shot that is saved by the keeper and is tapped in by his teammate they don't call offsides on him. He is in a position that is advantageous but because he was orginally onside at the time of the shot they don't whistle him for offsides even though at the time of the "deflection" (keeper saving shot) the player is offsides. Same as the original example I gave you, all that matters is that the offensive player is onsides at the time the ball is played. The defense can't make him off by an action of theirs.
Good call. Clearly dragged him down. I would have understood a red but I don't think it was quite worth one.
Ain't no way Portugal is advancing... Their attitude sucks and Ronaldo doesn't care about anyone but himself.
