Looking for a quality one. Easy to clean. I don't really cook but i will if it's easy to clean and healthy (grills that take the fats away) What is the best one you guys can suggest?

indoor grill? might as well use the stove top, breh.
the awesomeness of charcoal is unrivaled, unless you have one of those wood burning ovens. Can a great burger even be made on stove top?

sorry i just militantly overran your thread.

    foreman grill? =)

Are you talking about those grills you set on the stove top that i keeping seeing on Chopped? I'm sure you don't get the smoky grill taste that way, but you get those grill stripe marks. Not sure if there are other advantages, but have been thinking about getting one myself. Anyone?

I bought a cast iron frying pan with the raised ribs not too long ago. I wanted something to grill with that would be easier than charcoal. I love charcoal, but I don't always want to go through the trouble. I made some grilled chicken sliders on it and they tasted awesome. Yeah you don't get the smokey flavor, but the good thing about cast iron is that the more you cook on it, the more flavorful it'll be, since that fat and seasoning gets absorbed. Only cost me about 16 bucks.

How many burger joints do you see with a wood/charcoal grill out back?

Cast iron + a hot oven can produce a mean steak/chicken/burger. Takes practice to get the time/temp right.

Plus, you can deglaze the skillet with some wine & stock, add shallots/mushrooms/herbs/whatnot and make a great sauce. That's my favorite thing to do with venison/wild pig tenderloins & backstraps.

ETA: should have said cast iron + stovetop + hot oven

In fact bought a 2lb chunk of prime beef tenderloin this morning for chef brother and I to cook that way for Father's Day.

    This.

I really love to grill, but once we get older and (with luck) learn to use our kitchens, you can make amazing meats indoors. And as you say, the sauce opportunities are to die for.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. I'll take my indoor scanpan anytime.

I bought a Lodge Cast Iron Griddle that has one side with a grill, and it works fantastic on my glass-top electric stove. It is onsale for $27.00 on Amazon at the moment.

I can barely taste the difference between grilling fajitas on it, and my gas grill... and surprisingly it cooks extremely evenly.

^^^Those are awesome. Don't use the grill side much, but for cooking breakfast for multiple people, you can't beat it: bacon & eggs on 1 side, pancakes on the other.

Yup, easily my favorite stove top item to use. I loaded up on all kinds of Lodge Cast Iron pots and pants about six months ago and I use them CONSTANTLY. Fantastic value... and as you said the griddle/grill is perfect for any kind of meat, eggs or pancakes.

As others have said ... go with a cast iron skillet.

I love my cast iron skillet with the grill grates on it. I have made some pretty incredible steaks on there. If you grill a lot outdoors there is a slight learning curve with the "grilling" indoors. Make sure to use an oil with a higher smoke temp and don't use soap on the skillets unless you are going to reseason.

IMHO a classic flat bottomed cast iron skillet is probably better but you lose the grill marks and reduction in fat (also flavor, this one goes both ways). A classic skillet will be easier to clean, more versatile, easier to season, and typically provide better flavor.

Also the one Svpernaut mentioned looks pretty awesome, I would get that if it were me.

And George Foreman "grills" are just cheap panini presses.
