Lin fans hate everyone not named Lin or D'Antoni. They're groupies not basketball fans

    Exactly.

If I told you 24 months ago the Rockets would have Harden, Howard and quite possibly Anthony; no one would believe it.

Basketballhollic would tell you it was a failure because he has a strategy to get Lebron, Dwight, Paul, Westbrook and Durant in a series of sure fire trades.

I thought the master plan was to get five 2nd rounders?

Big three in Miami will restructure their contracts to accommodate Anthony. Miami owes only 2 million to Coles and Haslem... Freeing up around 15 million for all four players max players. Anthony can't say no to playing with James. The only 1 u espionage would be if Ray Allen returns the article I read didn't mention his contract. Posted from Cell Phone couldn't attach article...just Google big 4 to Miami. ..

There is no incentive for Melo to do a S&T (he wouldn't get any extra money) BUT there might be an incentive for the team he was going to. Like the Bulls and the Rockets, both of which would need to cut salary in order to sign him, by Doug a S&T deal with NYK they would get the guy they wanted and trade away the salary that they needed.

That is dependent on NYK wanting the pieces necessary for a salary dump. Otherwise, you trade those guys somewhere else and then sign Melo outright.

People need to remember how effective Carmelo was on Team USA. With teammates that could constantly create, he became an absolute monster shooting the 3 or attacking the close-out. Our offense will become nearly unguardable with Carmelo.

Everyone worrying about our defense has a valid point. When two of your 3 best players are known for being less than average defenders, that is a problem. If we get Carmelo and our defense fails us in the playoffs, look for McHale to be replaced by a known defensive coach (JVG?) or a respected veteran coach (Karl?) who can instill accountability on that end.

That is a possibility. I don't see it as very likely.

Miami would need to ask Chris Andersen and Haslem to opt out of their contracts and sign for less money.

They would need LBJ, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to all opt out and sign for less money.

Then they would need Melo to sign for less money.

Too many moving parts. Too many guys that they would need to ask to be selfless. All it would take is one of those guys saying "no, I'm going to get mine", and the plan would fall through. Especially when you consider the age of Birdman, Haslem, Wade and to a lesser extent Bosh- these guys will probably want to get paid while they still can because their playing days are winding down.

So it is possible, I just don't think it is likely

I think he can as a fourth offensive option he , being Chandler, could focus and put more energy on the defensive side. Coaching him up and getting that mentality to play top notch defense on the leagues premier wings will be a challenge, but I strongly believe tha CP25 will rise to the occasion.

With all that you have said which some points may be valid I think you are discrediting Melo as a player( especially defensively), Chandler (his 3D role considering new acquisitions to the team , giving parsons the chance to settle into a nise role player) and Howards ability on offense compared to Melo and Harden( offensive anchor!at the same time you have Melo/Harden....Please stop it)....I also think you dont believe our players could improve.I guess players arent suppose to get better from one year to the next!!??

But the point is that Melo AND Harden have their issues on D but to discredit them the way some posters have is ridiculous( I do honestly believe harden will improve to an acceptable level) and Beverly, Parsons,Howard are not a bad bunch to have playing the defensive roles first at their positions. 2 offensive, 3defensive lineup.

I don't even really care if they don't play much defense in the regular season, unless they get derailed by injury, they're winning 58+ games anyway. The oddity though is if they put in a little more effort, they'd probably end up putting so many games away early they can just go clown on the bench.

If that were to happen the nba might as well cancel the season.

That's what people said when LeBron went to Miami, and Dwight went to the Lakers. Hell, there were people who said that when Malone and Payton went to the Lakers. Outside of LeBron, the difference in talent among all these players is not insurmountable if you have good teamwork and a solid gameplan.

With that being said, I really want Melo on the Rockets.

When the Melo talk first started, I was not too enthusiastic. I was focused on the Rockets lack of defense and that Melo would fit right in with that premise. However, as the Melo talk heats up, it sounds better and better. The guy is an elite scorer, arguably the best scorer in the nba. How could we not be better with him on the Rockets? I have always been a believer in the adage that the best defense is a good offense. With Melo, we would have a great offense. Bring on Carmelo Anthony.
