Uhhh he was playing to get traded. If we keep him he's just going to pout again and refuse to play like he did in the beginning of the season.
He was done here the moment he started b****ing about D12 coming to houston. His mysterious ovarian cramps made a soap opera out of the rox last year. He does not want to be here so bye bye.
Because he can't make layups? Having a center who has so much trouble with point blank shots is a disaster waiting to happen. And I guess you didn't notice our offense had trouble getting in their flow against Portland, who want even a good defensive team. You're using a defensive example from one playoff experience with an offensive example from most of the regular season to make a point. That's not a recipe for winning a ring. You don't keep a 10 mil a year backup just in case, when you clearly need more help in the starting lineup.
There are going to be cheap, replacement level options out there. This is the third thread I've brought it up in, but Emeka Okafor is my predicted acquisition. If we can get superstar #3, then we'll get all kinds of veterans trying to avail themselves of our championship potential.
He is a sub because we have Dwight for another 4 yrs. You can't have a 8 ml sub on you're bench when you need to use on wings for example. No he's not better then Dwight bf you ask.
he is gone next offseason regardless of if we trade/keep him. might as well dump his salary and make room for a max FA, but if we are unable to get a 3rd star this offseason, we would obviously not dump Asik+Lin for nothing...
you're adding a meaningless preseason game to the meaningless regular season?! and the Nets swept the Heat this season, so what? did you see the way the Spurs carved their way through the Western Conference on their way to utter dominance over the two time defending champs?
First off, don't assume we'd be in the Finals had we gotten past the Blazers. How did that workout for the Thunder? OKC pwn us every time we play them so it's more likely OKC is playing right now. As far as Asik goes, I agree with you of his importance to the team, it was actually a bit unexpected since the early season twin tower experiment was left for dead and abandoned. But if you can get a talent such as Anthony, which you definitely do, it's a necessary evil to make the numbers work for his salary. If we could somehow keep Asik but that would be great but we'd have to let Parsons walk. I'm not a cap-ologist but I'm confident we couldn't keep Asik, bring Melo on board, AND bring back Parsons. I don't see it.
The Thunder spent 2 games without Ibaka (and he wasn't 100% for the rest of the series), and then were really just a slipping on their own ass in game 6 away from a game 7 they probably would have won. What was Pop's adjustment? put in a stretch 4 that can pull Ibaka out of the paint. You can not match down on Dwight like that.
If Asik was money on those bunnies at the rim and could block 2 shots a game, then we'd have something there, but then he'd average 16, 13, and two, while making 13 mill a year....
why are we even discussing what would have or could have happened if we won some series that we lost?
Nice rep comment: We're about to get Melo here and people here are sad because they're losing Asik. Just baffles the mind, really. OP started a thread 8 ****ING DAYS AGO calling for the trading of Asik and Lin. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=255217 Oh look another thread back in December where he changed his mind before and complained about Asik. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=248482 Asik only fan? Oh yeah, also note that his past two threads about Asik were locked, says a lot.
