Rooney has always been good but not great.

He scored 7 goals in qualification but at every WC he is just failing to score

Yeah, unfortunately the one (new) Liverpool player that should have been on the pitch and could have made a difference(as opposed to midfield subs) was left on the bench. @*$&*(*% WOY!

To their credit they played like men in the final half hour or so of the match. When one might expect them to use all sorts of time wasting theatrics to dull the match, they played ball. Fair play to the Italians.

Agreed. A shocking lack of diving and theatrics by Italy. Respect for actually playing a game on their feet.

hope something 3:3 but could be 1:2 for ivory coast and sloppy efficiency

I remember one game against Italy when they scored 3 and ended up losing 3:4 to italy (japan that is)

Funny to point out Italy, but it was England crying for 3 penalties today.

I dont understand the unusual criticism of italian diving. Its no worse than average. Are you confusing us for Brazil, or Spain?

Edit. Never mind. I'm an idiot.

    Substitute Germany/Portugal for Italy/England

This match is a mix up for me. Japan short passing game is on point but there offense tends to coast throughout the game, as for there defense they tend to sleep at times. This match- up can end up in a tied.

played there because of an injury to our lb De Scgilio. Can play there in case of emergency but hes incapable of going forward, looks very akward. I didnt like that move cuz it forced paletta to play at cb. Im amazed England didnt score more because paletta had a shockingly poor game. hope he never sees the pitch again this tournament.

As an Italian, you might not see what the rest of us see. It's a well deserved reputation.

    Uhhhh...what?

But you could say the same about CIV as well.
I'm going with a 2-2 draw in this one. (Some day I have to get a scoreline right :( )
