Well, reading about it did. But people were making gunpowder, paper and pasta without even having done that.

Lighten up and realize that there's more to curriculum than evolution and creation. Or maybe just check out the entire history of organized, Western education.

Yea...always defer to the state. Make it ok for the state to teach the kids to expect resistance from their parents and to ignore their parents. Yeeesh....what have we become?

Running water and plumbing changed the world more.

Curious about the first stat, so do those people also earn more in later life and how big is the sample size?

It doesn't matter to me at all.

I could care less really. I guess I'm used to it the way it is, but it would a very miniscule hassle to call it something else.

Science and history pretty important subject matters to understand the modern world buddy.

I don't really care if people are being taught literal interpretations as long as things aren't deliberately left out to make it easier to pound "facts" into the kid.

Children can be more intelligent than they appear and whether it fully registers at that point in time doesn't displace the value introducing critical thought abd navigating through the inconsistencies of human knowledge and values.

True...but only in European languages. Most of the world, like the Japanese, for example use the Gregorian calendar, but have their own names for days of the week and months that have nothing to do with pagan dieties or roman emperors :)

Umm..Thor is REAL. I have a hammer someone brought me from Sweden I wear around my neck, and I've never, ever been attacked by giants. Not a single time. I urge everyone to reject the false gods and put the THOR back in Thursday. IT'S HIS DAY.

It has long been the custom for historians, so debating it is honestly kind of a moot point. That the use of AD and BC are now considered obsolete and out of fashion probably means the OP hasn't read a history book in the last 20 years or so. Disclaimer: I was a Phi Alpha Theta nerd in school.

Except if you expressed your disbelief in the Greek/Roman pantheon's existence nobody would care.

Doubt Jesus or the Abrahamic God or unnamed magic man and you're screwed.

Saying things that go against a person's religious beliefs are always met with opposition and if this board is any indication that clearly includes atheists.

I don't really care, but maybe I should? When was the last time you heard Happy New Year 20XX AD.. Or Write on any paper with 20XX AD, or websites that ask you for Credit card info showing the AD acronym?

lol, did they??? Strange we don't separate time into "before plumbing" or 'before running water" and "in the year of our plumbing" or "in the year of our running water". Plumbing may get the **** out of your house but Jesus will get it out of your soul.;)

lol, although I am not Catholic, beware, the new Pope is saying a lot of things that are in direct contrast to the Bible which would make them false.:(

Yeah... If only those that had shed their primitive superstitious past and didn't believe in a god hovering over their heads would simply ignore when things like "religion is just as factual as science" and "religion has as much merit as science and creationism should be part of the curriculum".... Then we'd all be one happy progressive society...

Yes, those things are just as intellectually harmless as saying "there is no proof of a god, stop referencing a book of made-up stories as if you were referencing scientific texts"...

    Nice fair, equal comparison there...

Case in point. Sorry to have challenged your religious beliefs like that, I promise it'll be okay though.
