Thanks for a good laugh. I love how you called me a "monkey" while you scream like a chimpanzee.

Did you just equate biblical "history" to being as integrally factual as actual proven history...?

It's just an arbitrary date, it's incredibly easy to change the date and it has been done several times before. Also, because of your comments I'm not sure you understand what "definitely" means. Someone named Jesus definitely existed so the estimated date of his birth is a solid landmark (even if they initially got it wrong) the start of the common era is simply and arbitrary time. Picking the inaccurately estimated birth date of Jesus is no more or less valid than picking the date of the first Olympics, or the date of the French Revolution, or the year of a great flood, or the date of a meteor shower or comet passing near the earth.

If the start of the "common era" was something that "definitely happened" then what caused it? What change happened?

High praise indeed... I hear the new pope as part of his modernist approach/application of religion is planning a revision to the bible... so, as to refer to Satan from here on forth... as a troll...

Yes he did, and he is absolutely correct in doing so.

If "estimated" is all we're going for... How about the estimated date man discovered fire...?

    That'd be real neat..!

Well now we know more or less when it happened down to about a handful of years, but since it's just an arbitrary starting point, we didn't change it when better information came available. As to picking another arbitrary date, such as the discovery of fire or whatever, it would be no different, just an arbitrary start point.

So where's the garden of eden located, exactly...? Does it still bear fruit...? How did man escape the genetic defects of the rampant inbreeding from which their existence stemmed...?

Miracles are real now, eh...? How come they don't happen anymore...? Isn't cancer just as bad as leprosy...?

Proof of a flood in any given location is proof of a "great flood that wiped out all of man save those on board an enormous impractical ark"...?

You mean there WAS a giant named Goliath...? How come there's no record of giant human bones being discovered anywhere...?

    How about Sodom and Gomorrah...?

I could go on and on... Apparently, from your perspective, all these things have been as empirically proven.... as the holocaust...?

It is indeed... a mad world...

This is kind of like debating if Pluto is still a planet or not.

It's actually not at all. It would be similar to if they decided to re-name Mars.

.....and January the first 2014 years ago also exists.....you know, which is why that analogy is accurate. Try to keep up.

How about you prove he did.

If you use his actual name then there is plenty of evidence that he did exist, now if you are asking for evidence that the man was a deity then that's a different conversation entirely. One that is entirely irrelevant to this topic.

The difference is Jesus, the guy, actually existed (or at least there's a lot of historical evidence for it). And without a doubt, he did influence millions, billions of people. Whether he was the Son of God is a different matter.

I think asking the entire world to abide by the rulings of Pope Gregory XIII from the 16th Century makes perfect sense. But we shouldn't be hypocrites: we should also take his heed to convert everyone to the One Church or be burnt on the stake, well I mean at least the ones who can't afford indulgences.

We could otherwise just use the Jewish calender, since it doesn't have any seperation of dates. Of course it doesn't go back much more than 6000 years, but then if you believe that's the age of the world, who cares about geology?
