Don't think so, but I do give you props for being a big proponent of his well before the Rockets drafted him. While waiting for the post-draft press conference that night, I remember telling a media member that you were pushing hard for him (I preferred Kawhi and Singleton as small forwards). The Rockets obviously agreed with you, to some degree.

Heh, I am being facetious. Obviously this prediction fell flat on its face. The Rockets were still correct in their pick IMO, though. At that juncture, the organization was desperate for star talent. Banking on Morris to play on the wing , the only position he could become a star, may have been the low % play(obviously I thought it was high enough to make a fool of myself), but you still have to take it without a franchise player to build around. Kawhi is looking like a fine utilitarian player, much better than Morris, but his ceiling was never a star.

That is really cool that you mentioned this to a media member by the way.

How exactly did Morris have star potential? Don't get it....

Similar numbers don't mean they are similar players. For example, Morris has made more 3 pt shots in 12 games as a Phoenix Sun than Williamson did his entire 11 year NBA career, which spanned over 800 games. I was just giving BimaThug a hard time.

Talking about Morris, I don't think the final verdict is completely in just yet. He has improved tremendously from year 1 (completely lost on the court) to year 2 (roughly 40% 3-point shooter). If he works on the other facets on his game that needs work in the off-season, this guy could really blossom. IMO, he would look great coming off the bench for a contender, like OKC.

Looking back at that draft, you can see it was a pure crap shoot from 14 down. I knew Faried was going to be a player but he is a garbage man. A top-notch garbage man nonetheless.

I still feel the same way about Marcus as I did then. I still think he will be best served by keeping his weight down and playing the swing position. I still think he should try to take off more weight and get quicker to play the 3. I think he would have a tremendous size advantage if he played the 3 regularly.

What hurt Marcus the most here was he came in with the wrong attitude last season. It killed him last year. However, he was a different player this season. And I think his career will blossom in Phoenix.

As far as Kawhi goes, I was never sold on him. And I think he has probably maxed out his potential right now. Just don't see him getting significantly better. I felt he was a role player before the draft. Still feel the same way. He's a good role player but still, he's a role player. I'd much rather have Chandler. And I was fine with drafting Marcus in front of him. I don't see Kawhi being able to step in and replace any of the big 3 in San Antonio when they are gone to keep San Antonio at an elite level.

Kawhi could have been out new franchise player. Wish we had the chance to get to know him.

No real chance. I guess they had either taken Markieff or Marcus at that point.

Your kind of right. You traded Patterson for Robinson cry
Hardens defense is awful worst in the league. cry
Morris sucks Leonard is the next next Jordan cry

What is the next point to drive into the ground? How about trading for Love and only rooting for despair.

I'm joking mostly you make the rockets part of the forum worth reading. Keep on keepin on.

I remember wanting Leonard so bad that draft too! I though he was a lock for to be in the top 6, I literally jumped up with joy and cheered when the Suns picked Markieff, celebrating Leonard falling to us. I was so disappointed when we picked Marcus, I had a pretty big frown on my face lol.

Marcus Morris was and is a good player.
When the Rockets picked him, it was not a bad pick.
He contributed to the team and was a relatively productive player for the position he was drafted at.

Obviously, Kawhi was a better pick.
    Hindsight is always 20/20.

The Rockets could have drafted better, but you need to remember, there were allot of teams that drafted worse.

For the most part, the Rockets have done a really good job of drafting players.
The Rockets are also one of the better teams in developing players.

I think this is more of a case were the Spurs as an organization are just really good at developing players.
However, as good as the Rockets are at developing players, teams like the Spurs, Suns and the Jazz are better.

One of the keys in developing players is having a culture within your organization where your better players and veterans are focused on winning and improving there games.
This forces the younger guys to work on their games, especially in the off-season.

I think if the rockets drafted Kawhi, yes he would have made the team and yes he would have been a part of the rotation.
But how much better do you think he would have been in comparison to Terrance Jones or Chandler Parsons if he was actually drafted by the Rockets?
If Kawhi was on the Rockets, I do not think he would be as good as he he currently is with the Spurs.

When you have guys like James Harden and Tracy McGrady, who are focused on enjoying life, goof off on the court and play sloppy defense, it is hard to get the rookies and younger guys to bust their asses and work on their games. Guys like Michael Jorgan, Larry Bird and Joe Dumars would have knocked you up side the head if you goofed off.

Yes, in hindsight it was a terrible mistake. But you win some you lose some.

Harden, Howard, Parsons, Beverley. I'm still good.

We had 55 win season, we enough cap flexibility to get another max player, and people are this board are moaning about Kawhi.
