Just...wow. To give complete power for 10 years to a guy with no real NBA success. There are only 3 guys that I can think of that would be worth giving that much power for that long to -- Pop, Phil, and Pat Riley. Assuming they were all young enough to last 10 years.
This guy is so overrated. No NBA success, doesn't develop talents and has tons of games with very questionable decision-making. Offering this kind of deal is nuts, guess they want a big name more than anything.
Am I the only one who found it more shocking Kentucky is paying Calipari $52mil guaranteed? That's more than most NBA coaches. Probably more than all NBA coaches that doesn't have some sort of dual role like SVG as President/Coach. And I'm pretty sure there are opt out clauses that allow him to leave too unlike NBA coaching contracts. But can't pay student athletes though. That would just ruin the game.
Why are you laughing at them? They have won the same number of playoff series as the Rockets did since Lebron left.
I really don't get it. Didn't he already get his chance and fail in the NBA? Why do we keep hearing rumors about teams lining up to give him another shot?
I think college coaches should make more than pro coaches, because in college the only constant is the coach... like Coach K is worth more to his school than any NBA coach has ever been.
I suppose what you really mean is maybe 2-3 college coaches who are incredibly successful should make more than NBA coaches. I can agree with that.
Calipari should have taken the job, then got himself fired after 2-3 crappy years, then just collect the rest of his money from his living room couch.
