citizen candidate and economics professor Dave Brat defeats corporatist amnesty shill Eric Cantor

Brat spent about $150K in this race, Cantor more than $5 mill. Surprising, yes. And definitely upsetting. But well, as Nate Silver noted, since absolutely no one noted this, perhaps it is not best to overreact to a group of 60K voters. It's not like the Tea Party has been problem-free so far.
I'm glad any time people vote for an actual person instead of just for a party, establishment Republicans and Democrats are the problem, any time one of them gets voted out, it's a good thing.
I'm a big advocate against the two-party system as it stands, but I'll be damned if that isn't a crazy blanket statement. Any time? Really?
The term tea party is being used for any non-establishment candidate, making the term meaningless. There have always been none establishment candidates.

But seriously, this will make the Republican Party more Tea Party-ish because individual members will be scared.
I hope you are right. I do not like the insanity of a Democrat - light Republican party. Hopefully the idiot Boernher takes notice and makes a move to the right.
Virginia has an open primary and there was a lot of talk about Dems crossing over on primary night and voting against Cantor. I'm sure some did, but we will have to see how it all shook out.
This is precisely how Republicans will win the Presidency, by redoubling their efforts to out conservative each other and bring us back into the 19th century. Onward ho!
I will wave to Eric Cantor in the rear-view mirror and look forward to the summer. There will be no amnesty vote now. He lost because of that and the message is clear. Boehner must be popping BP meds doubletime right about now. If the Dems want to make this election about immigration reform, so be it. Let's make it about Obamacare. Or maybe ME foreign policy. Serious question: What DO the Dems run on for the midterms? Every policy point so far has pretty much been a disaster. What's the platform come October? Gay blowjobs for everyone, maybe? That might get you more votes than your ACTUAL policy positions. Nah, you'll lose the lesbo vote... Odd thing, that is - one of the two major historical parties is reduced to buying votes with blowjobs.
I believe outlawing interracial marriage should be next on the agenda. Its been tearing the fabric of yoga pants for too long... all these big booty mix breeds.
