CNN just picked it up http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/10/justice/oregon-high-school-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
Portland news is reporting the same... http://www.kgw.com/news/Breaking-Reports-of-gunfire-at-Reynolds-High-School-262541971.html F.T.S.
Another day in the life of a student trying to get an education in this crazy ass world we seem to be living in.
The lesson to be learned is if you are crazy and want everyone to pay attention to you, go shoot people indiscriminately at a school. 24 hour news is the cause of this stupidity.
Is it realistic to expect the news to not cover these stories?!? That is their job, and they know these types stories will draw viewers....which is their ultimate goal. The news is not to blame here. If I were to blame anything, it would be the parents who must know these children have mental health issues but do nothing about it. Instead, they look the other way and pretend their kid is going through a "phase." Mental health is a serious issue in this country, and sadly, things like this will continue to occur until these issues are addressed.
It's just the cost of living in America. Nothing to be done. http://www.theonion.com/articles/no-way-to-prevent-this-says-only-nation-where-this,36131/
Shooter has now been confirmed as dead: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/shooter-portland-oregon-high-school-confirmed-dead-police-n127401
Actually, the lesson should be that if you want people to pay attention to you, shooting school kids is no longer cutting it. Remember Colombine? That things was milked for months and was used by politicians and interest groups for years. To this day I still remember the term trench coat mafia. These days? You'd be lucky to get a week worth of attention. It's clear that the crazies need to come up with something much more devastating to leave a lasting impression.
